Billing itself as a nonpartisan restaurant---two of the principals are Democrat Tom Boggs and former RNC chairman Haley Barbour---The Caucus Room proves yet again that Washington can accommodate another high-brow destination for the kind of folks whose faces turn up regularly on C-SPAN and the nightly news. - Gayot - suggest change

Hum... Ick is not strong enough
We stopped at The Caucaus Room on our trip through DC for Restaurant Week and were sadly disappointed with the food. The place was lovely, the service was excellent, and the food was terrible.

The bread was a boring cold, sliced bread. Nothing special. The salad was drenched in dressing to the point the leaves were sagging. The supposed steak frites were vile... the frites part was actually okay but the icky, mediocre piece of beef that came with the fries was thin, chewy like rubber... simply put, it was awful. The roasted chicken was fine... just like what you would get for $5 at KFC but certainly not worth the price tag at this place. I would not serve the steak to my dogs.

It is really too bad the old bastions of DC dining have fallen off course. The Palm still offers great food but terrible service. The Caucus Room has great service and terrible food. Maybe the two could consider a merger.    [20 Aug 2006 16:52:39]
