Crispy goodness One of the pioneers in a "revitalizing" part of town, Ella's does what it can to make it worth the trip. You can have a pizza in about ten minutes (order in person or by telephone), and it's very fresh. The crispy crust is the crowning achievement, even though it's on the bottom. [31 Jul 2003 19:33:18]

Bertucchi's -- Watch out! I thought Bertucchi's had the best sit-down pizza place in the area, but Ella's is a step above. The pizza are completely personalized and taste like you've just plucked the toppings out of your own backyard garden. The quaint, small dinning area makes it a nice cozy spot. The ambiance is great and the price is reasonable. [04 Sep 2003 12:59:17]

Craved it the next day. When my friends and I planned an evening at the Warner Theater, I suggested Ella's for dinner. They balked at pizza before the show, thinking kid food on our ladies evening out. But let me tell you - we all loved it. We had drinks at happy hour prices, light crispy calamari appetizers and shared 2 of the pizzas: the shrimp/pesto and proscuito/arugula. Adventurous combinations and absolutely delicious. It was the perfect light meal before the show. The next day, one friend called to say she was craving Ella's pizza. So, check it out! [01 Dec 2003 10:19:31]

great pizza, pudding and personality I can't stay away. The pizza is better than Two Amys and the old-fashioned chocolate pudding brings back Proustian memories of my childhood. The fresh mixed green salad is big enough for 2 to share - and it's not overdressed!
For special requests and take-out service, speak to Big Al at the desk. He brings a casual, humorous unpretentious attitude to the proceedings. I spend so much time that I might even apply for a job there. [01 Jan 2004 12:22:02]

Go to Matchbox Pizza was fine, that was it. Matchbox has far better pizza and Two Amy's really outdoes this place. [23 Mar 2004 10:23:57]

Bland Pizza!! Recently, I visited Ella's and I was surprised that the restaurant has received an excellent review on the AOL Digital City guide. The pizza sauce was extremely bland, and the crust was chewy rather the typical crunchy and doughy brick oven pizzas that I have had in the past. My husband had a pizza that was suppose to contain a sundried tomato puree. However, it lacked any sort of flavor. If you want an excellent brick oven pizza, I suggest Pizzeria Paradiso in the District or Doughboys in Gaithersburg (Kentlands). In addition to the food, the atmosphere was fair at best given that I had to deal with smoke from the bar. The restaurant has a ventilation system, but it doesn't work well. [20 Jun 2005 11:56:12]
