Description

Authentic Japanese cuisine with a contemporary spin. Along with original small dishes, Kaz offers salads, soups and sushi. The menu changes daily.

Chef Kazuhiro Okochi is one of the few chefs in the DC area trained to handle tora fugu, the blowfish that is a great delicacy but poisonous if not cleaned properly. He imports the fish, in season, and prepares a six-course fugu dinner that is unique in this area.

Kaz stars Wakatake Onikoroshi Daiginjo on their extensive premium sake list.

Stay Away
I've personally dined at nearly all of dc/va sushi joints and expected Kaz to rate highly umongst them--until my spouse and I tried it last night.-- SMALL portions, but very high quality. NO artistic flair to the presentation (not a big deal). SLOW service. So slow, we had to leave after waiting for 2 rolls we added to our order and waited btwn 30-40 minutes for. It honestly was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in D.C.!    [06 Oct 2006 12:17:21]
