Popular is an understatement for a restaurant that... - Digital City - suggest change
We had heard a lot about Kinkeads - FoodTourist.com, Sue Dyson and Roger McShane; While we think that Kinkeads is a good spot for fresh, well-cooked seafood we can't see that it is any better than dozens of other seafood restaurants in other cities in the United States. - suggest change
If you want to show a visitor from overseas what Modern American cooking is about, book a table at Kinkead's. - Washingtonian, Robert Shoffner, 0 January 2003 - suggest change

An unpleasant experience
I recently went to Kinkead's with a friend of mine. We are college students who enjoy trying different places around DC. We went in late one evening for drinks and desserts. We were told only people who ordered full meals could eat in the diningroom and that we should sit at the bar. The bartender was very unwelcoming. We felt like we were major inconveniences to him. We left feeling totally upset with this experience. Never before at the many restaurants we have been to were we treated so poorly or left feeling so unhappy. The only reason we could come up with that he would have treated us that way was because we are young and perhaps felt that we weren't worth his trouble. Shame on him. I don't recommend other young people try this establishment. It's not worth being treated like second class citizens.    [25 Feb 2004 15:37:37]

A Different Experience
Sorry to her that jdelia had a bad experience at Kinkeads but mine was completely different. My girlfriend and I showed up on a Thursday night without a reservation and we sat at the bar for about 20 minutes waiting for a table. The bartender couldn't have been nicer and we were served promptly. They gave us a nice table downstairs and we were very happy with both the meal and the service. I guess I should mention that I'm 25 and my girlfriend is 24.    [26 May 2007 00:53:31]

Rude Treatment
Kinkead's was very pretentious with management and staff that were downright rude. We arrived seven minutes early for our reservation, making my 88-year old mother stand for 15 minutes until we were seated. No apologies, no offer to do something special after we complained. They couldn't care less. Instead of ordering soup to nuts, we had an overpriced entree then left. Wait staff stayed far away, only taking the order, bringing the meal, and ropping off the bill. On the way out, the maitre D' asked how things were, we said, "Not so good." He asked, "Oh, was it the food or just the way you received when you entered." He knew of our poor treatment and never came over to say anything about it. Very arrogant. I would not recommend Kinkead's to anyone.    [27 Jun 2007 22:02:56]
