Description

Located across the street from the tony Mazza Gallerie, the Washington branch of this New York-style trattoria shares an entrance with the Corner Bakery. Maggiano's is best known for its large portions served family style, covering the range of Italian dishes and desserts. Although usually crowded and on the noisy side, the atmosphere and service unhurried, deliberately reminiscent of postwar Little Italy. The Sunday brunch is also popular with locals.

Not for us
I love Italian food, so I thought I'd make a reservation at this well-known restaurant. We trekked across town to this place and, in short, they botched our reservation. We know this because they remembered talking to us. Did they care? No. They said wait 5 minutes, we waited 20 and they paid us no mind. There are two types of restaurants: those that cater to you and those you bow to. Maggiano's is the latter. We prefer to give our money to the former.    [13 Sep 2003 14:37:20]

Great food, slow service
Going away luncheon, cheaper than Dinner. Don't be in a rush. Go with people you enjoy talking to and being with, because you'll have lots of opportunities for that. Excellent food, all you can eat, plus doggie bags for everything. Reasonably priced for what you can get.
Service was slow, but with that expectation and proper attitude, not a disturbance or imposition.    [25 Nov 2003 16:02:59]
