EXCELLENT EGYPTIAN Desert colors decorate it. Excellent food and service. Stick with the middle eastern menu. Avoid the poorly done American food like steaks. Large Mezza menu. [25 Sep 2003 11:34:03]

Bad service and bad baklava The drinks (we had martini and french lemonade), calamari and lamb shank were good. However, the service is bad. We didn't get any bread, although all except us got a basket. I asked the waitress what they serve on the basket since we didn't receive any. She said, "Oh! they are just pita bread." No apologies nor explanations. Then when we ordered baklava, it's not warm, and not tasty -- the baklava sold at Whole Food is better for a lesser amount. WE WILL DEFINITELY NOT COME BACK NOR RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL OUR FRIENDS WHO ARE BIG FANS OF MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD AND ADAMS MORGAN. [09 Aug 2005 20:03:10]

Not a destination, but if you're nearby.... This is probably the best restaurant within 5 minutes of the Omni Shoreham Hotel. The staff and service are young, attentive and friendly. The middle-eastern cuisine is tops. I had the grilled lamb chops. The baklava is a perfect dessert and big enough for two. [27 Oct 2005 21:10:49]

A huge disappointment Why do I look up a review site only AFTER spending my money? Hmmm... Anyway, my wife and I sat outside, great spot for people watching, service was attentive. The babaganouj was creamy and good, the pita fresh and thin. The rest of the meal was poorly executed. My wife ordered the "fresh catch trout stuffed with Maryland crab." The plating was high school cafeteria - a trout in covered in white sauce on top of a huge pile of mashed potatoes, with succotash - yes corn, carrots, peas, - on the plate too. Potatoes had scorched and tasted burned. The fish was good, but I expected a stuffing of lump backfin meat - what I got was scarce threads of claw meat in a stuffing so soft it could have been a thick roux. Yuch. The lamb chops were over grilled to char, and almost inedible, served over white rice and succotash. As the review said above, I guess you should stick to appetizers and martinis here.
