Little more than a year old, Montmartre is the most recent manifestation of the neighborhood-bistro boomlet... - Washingtonian, Robert Shoffner, 0 January 2003 - suggest change
I liked the restaurant (Bluestone Café) that used to occupy this space, but I also like its successor. - Frommer's Washington, D.C. 2003 - suggest change

Montmartre, c'est magnifique This is a truly terrific restaurant. They serve camembert, bon bons, pied a terre, les devoirs, je suis tue, and their sur la pont d'Avignon is to die for!!!! [12 Sep 2003 20:49:29]

Rude Waiters No matter how enjoyable the food, a rude waiter can ruin the best of meals. Waitress pretended not to understand English or French. Showed no interest in answering questions or being helpful. [22 Sep 2003 11:05:55]

Happy My wife and I went for our 10th wedding anniversary. The French food was excellent. We enjoyed the decor, excellent service; lunch on the patio was especially enjoyable. My wife and I enjoyed the wine; after two bottles of Chateau neuf du Pape, an after dinner Cointreau and a nice dessert it was time to walk home. We will definitely celebrate our anniversary twice a month. [21 Oct 2003 19:28:40]

Excellent! I have tried many French restaurants in the DC area and Montmartre is my favorite: excellent food, nice ambiance and great service. I am French, so I know French food, and I think that Montmartre delivers the most authentic, amazing French dishes! [11 Jun 2005 00:05:30]

A True Parisien Bistro We have been dining at Montmartre for seven years and it rarely disappoints. The staff has treated us like family for years. It is a bustling bistro with a happy and very French decor. The rabbit is amazing as is the hanger steak. The sauce is concentrated demi glace that take days of reduction. The risotto with grilled shrimp would make a high end expense account restaurant proud. If you have any room the desserts, mostly fruit tarts are exceptional. I only wish they could make a really concentrated expresso. [13 Oct 2006 19:03:05]

poor waiter etiquette We have dined at Montmartre several times, and always enjoyed the ambience and the food. Our last meal there was marred by poor waiter etiquette. My husband was not happy with his glass of red wine and asked if he could switch it to the most expensive wine by the glass. The waiter did not readily oblige and seemed extremely reluctant to do this. Then, later came back with the requested wine, but pointed out that he could not sell the first glass since my husband had already taken a few sips of it. We thought the whole thing was handled poorly. Are they in the habit of reserving glasses of wine that has been delivered to a table?? [23 Mar 2007 10:21:20]

Warm, inviting, & fabulous This place is perfect for a slow dinner with loved ones. There were a few snafus when we got there - ran out of one special, the wine we chose wasn't chilled so we had to wait a little while. I'm usually one to drop a place when it can't get things like this done right, but Montmartre shined. The food was well executed and the plating beautiful. [16 Jul 2007 17:24:30]
