It really is that good. Ok, so the wait is a little ridiculous at times and the service is not up to par, but lets face it, for the price and the amount of food that is on your plate it is awesome! There is not another place that in DC that will set you back only $25(with a salad and wine and appetizer) and come out of there with a full stomach and a wallet with some cash left in it. Great place, a little small, but friendly. [30 Jul 2003 14:14:59]

Strong-arm approach Let me just begin my review by saying that the food is good. I have been to this restaurant twice and my last visit is what I am writing about here. I was "strong-armed" into paying for a substandard and absolutely disgusting meal. They have some great dishes on their menu and some horrible ones. If, by chance, you happen to order something that makes your stomach turn as I did this past weekend, they will force you to pay for the untouched dish. I was told that whether or not I ate my meal, I would be FORCED to pay for it. I requested a substitute dish and was met with extreme resistance. I was also told by the waiter that because of the line that they regularly have outside of their door, almost 2 hours in wait time, the owners would not care if I or anyone that I know did not come back to the restaurant. The food is good, but there are many other great Italian restaurants in DC that will treat you like a customer, or at least a fellow human being. [13 Apr 2004 08:40:29]

Good food, long wait. Pasta Mia is a family run business that is short on customer service and tight business operations, but has affordable decent food. Come with a hearty appetite and get something you won't mind eating again the next day, because leftovers are assured. Be prepared to pay cash, as they take no credit, debit cards or checks. And, if you can, call to make sure that they are planning to open, as the family takes vacations a few times a year and the restaurant closes down for several days without notice.
