Fabulous!!! Sorisso is the best Italian restaurant to come to DC. The pizza, veal and fish are all excellent choices. I haven't found anything I don't like yet. [16 Jan 2004 22:26:51]

So So We ordered pizza and salad. The salad never came; the pizza was mediocre. They used frozen spinach instead of fresh. The quality does not live up to the prices. [19 Feb 2004 17:28:35]

Good Food - Bad Proportions The food was good, the owner is very nice, but I would need to order three entrees next time I go, and I'm skinny. I ordered the $19 Swordfish which was good, but very small. [12 Mar 2004 16:44:57]

Great food Loved the Margherita pizza. Great atmosphere. Excellent service. Pricey, but very satisfied. Would recommend highly to any and everyone. [29 Apr 2004 16:09:50]

Not going back Owner/manager and waiter were surly. Food (other than pizza) was good but overpriced. Pizza was flabby. Really thin wine selection too. [06 May 2004 18:10:47]

Awesome! What a delicious place to eat! The food is wonderful, the female server we had was so sweet and pleasant, and the owner is one of the friendliest and most generous people around. And what a cute idea to have pictures of the owner and his family throughout the restaurant (especially on the boys/girls bathrooms). Go to Sorriso! There will be no way we'll eat anywhere else for Italian! [06 Jul 2004 09:48:24]

Exceptional I lived in Italy for over two years and wouldn't eat out when I moved back to the states. After awhile I decided to give some "authentic Italian" restaurants in the area a try. It wasn't worth the effort. But Sorriso is authentic Italian food. Not at all a disappointment, and boy was I pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this place. Bravo! [22 Sep 2004 12:57:57]

Never been treated so badly. I went there to eat with a couple of friends and ordered basic stuff; a couple of pizzas, a couple of salads, an appetizer, and a coke. The waitress was seen twice; once when she took our order and then when she brought the food. She never came to check up on us or refill our glasses. In all fairness, she was the only server handling about 10 tables.
One of the managers was helping her out, but never came by to check on us either. At one point, my water glass was empty for about 10 minutes so I finally went up to the server station and got my own water. After a little while when it was empty again, he came by and filled up my friend’s glass, but left mine empty. No one ever asked if my other friend wanted another coke. They never offered dessert. When we finally asked the upstairs manager for our check (since our waitress wasn’t stopping at our table and was always running by), he just pointed to our waitress. We waited another 10 minutes before finally stopping our waitress.
When we brought this bad service and severely understaffed dining area to the attention of the manager, he had us go see him in the kitchen where he continued to bark out orders to people while my friend and I were trying to talk to him. When we finally got his attention, his response was “So what’s the problem? No water….no coke…that’s not a problem. No wine…then there would be a problem!” and laughed about it. I had to keep pointing out the other issues with the service that night…he could not have been more disinterested in what was going on in his place or what his customers thought of it.
I used to go there from time to time because the food is okay (but not great), but after being treated like that, I will never go back there and strongly suggest that no one spend their money at a place that places so little value on their customers. If I owned that restaurant, I would fire that manager in a heartbeat. [24 Apr 2006 11:27:02]

Great neighborhood joint Sorriso is a great alternative to its high class cousin, Palena, across the street. If you want a good meal in a casual atmosphere with okay (but not cheap) prices, Sorriso is the place to go. The calamari appetizer is terrific. I tend to order the spinach salad with gorgonzola over and over. The chef often has a bordetto, fish soup, on the menu. Don't even look at the rest of the offerings: order it. [19 May 2006 21:51:13]
