Ignore Other Reviews We eat at Passage to India once a week, and have never had unfriendly service or a bad experience. It's a small restaurant and every dish is made to order, which means that it's not fast food. If you want Instant International, try Taco Bell.
If they are crowded, the arrival of the food can take a while, but they are always very polite and apologetic.
The food is delicious, the kitchen is open as you walk in the door (Restaurants with dirty kitchens rarely place them in front of the door so you can look in!) and the staff is polite.
I'm just amazed at the negative reviews. Please ignore them and give Passage to India a chance. The only thing that would make the place better is if they opened one closer to us - we travel an hour to get there. And it's worth it. [02 Feb 2004 21:24:33]

Great Indian The food comes in fairly small portions, with slightly high prices for how much you get, but the food is delicious, and the sauces are excellent. [23 Nov 2005 15:36:11]

Just Great We live an hour away, but that's just fine, because we get really great food. For years, my wife would never try Indian food for fear it was too hot and spicy. She's now converted. For special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, and when passing through Bonita, it's the place.
It's not your chain restaurant, not your run-of-the-mill type place. Nor is it a ripoff of someone trying to serve something it's not. You may not like Indian food if you've never tried it before, but it will not be because of how they prepare it. Believe you me. [03 Feb 2006 19:55:03]

Need to improve on service. The food was good, but the service needs a lot of improvement. The wait time was too long, the waiter forgot to bring in all the dishes served with special orders and there was a goof up in totalling the check amount as well. The food portions are fairly small and the prices slightly on the higher end. [02 Sep 2006 22:15:33]

Over Priced Indian Food - Captive Audience! All restaurants in this area are overpriced - as is Passage to India. Why charge $16 for Alou Gobi? However, seasoning was done accurately to order, the Naan was excellent - Chutneys ok, service good, Samosa's seemed from a frozen package. [09 Jan 2007 20:14:02]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Stick to the meats - a fair price versus Veg.

Incredible- Would reccomend in a heartbeat! My husband is from England and I had never had Indian food. I am now hooked on it from our experiences at Passage to India. I have been to England and tried the "real thing" and was not as impressed as I am with the food I've had here.
In response to the service - I beg to differ with regards to the quality. If you are a regular, you will recognize the faces and appreciate quality vs speed. There is a reason they could be a bit behind on a Saturday night when there is a waiting list because every seat in the house is taken....does that not tell you something about the food when people are waiting??
To someone who is hesitant to try- Doesn't hurt to try..... [21 May 2007 16:55:09]

One of our favorite restaurants We've found Passage to India to be consistently good. Freshly prepared dishes with outstanding seasonings. The staff has been helpful in suggesting new dishes and flavors to try. We were relatively new to this type of cuisine and now look forward to dining there on a fairly regular basis. Overall it is quite an enjoyable restaurant. [27 Apr 2008 17:25:11]

PASSAGE IS GREAT I AM AMAZED AT THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS THAT THIS RESTAURANT GETS. IT IS NOT 'SAFFRON' IN NAPLES BUT IT IS VERY GOOD. I CAN ONLY GUESS THAT THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT SERVICE COME FROM SNOW BIRDS AND TOURISTS WHO FORGET TO RELAX WHEN THEY COME HERE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE PASSAGE, THEN DON'T EAT THERE AND LEAVE ROOM FOR US WHO LIVE HERE. [04 Mar 2009 07:53:00]
