server with an attitude
i went in there tonight and had the worst service of my life from this server named nicky. i didn't have a problem with anything else but the server. if barnacles wants to stay in buisness the need to fire this sorry excuse for an employee.    [03 Sep 2003 23:50:26]

Horrible service
My husband and his friends went to Barnicles to celebrate an occasion. The server they had (girl)was rude and unfriendly. She set a bad tone for their dining experience. I am part of the service industry and have often explained to my husband that good restaturants will never let a customer leave unhappy. So my husband went to manager of Barnacles to explain the situation. The manager (glasses n mustache) did not even acknoledge the problem and just did not make the slightest effort to satisfy the customers. Needless to say, my husband and his friends left Barnacle on a sour note. To add insult, the server yelled at them on the way out (causing an embarrasing scene)that they did not pay their bill-which they had! What a horrible situation. In the service industry it is said: If a customer leaves happy, they will tell 1/2 friends, if they leave unhappy, they will tell at least 10 people. This is 1 out of at least ten complaints we will report. There are thousands of restaurants everywhere, bad service and lazy managment is not a good key to running a good restaurant or establishment..    [30 Apr 2006 23:55:51]

Fun and energizing experience
New to the area we discovered Barnacles our first week here. We have fallen in love. The food is great, the staff is friendly and fun. We love the casual Florida atmosphere.
Barnacles has become our favorite place to go any night of the week.    [02 Aug 2006 11:12:12]

Awesome food! Dog friendly...questionable?
I've been a loyal customer for years at Barnacles. I always go there with my friends after coming from TB Lightning games and TB Storm games because no other restaurant that is open late serve such an awesome menu...not even Hooters. I even go there on none game days just because I like the food. Whenever friends from out of town visit, that is one of the first restaurants I take them to and they really enjoy the food. Even my parents love going there whenever they visit me. However just one bad experience which happened yesterday left a real bad taste in my mouth that I don't know if I ever want to go back there. At Barnacles they have an outdoor area. I've eaten at the outdoor area with my dog three times before. The first time I actually called ahead of time before going there to see if it was okay to have my dog with me if I ate in the outdoor area. The receptionist checked with the manager at the time and said that it was okay. The third time I ate there with my dog was actually this past Sunday...not even a week prior to yesterday. Well, I brought my dog again with me when I went to Barnacles yesterday. The manager went to me and told me I cannot eat there with my dog...and he said it with a smirk on his face as if he enjoyed telling me I cannot eat there. I told him that I've eaten there with my dog on three other occasions. He then said that the managers that were working those days don't know what they are doing and were not supposed to let me eat there with my dog. He said that there is some kind of health issue that prohibits customers from having a dog at a food establishment even if it was outdoors. I knew that that was not true. There are many restaurants around Tampa (especially Davis Island) that have an outdoor area that allows customers to have their dogs with them. The only health issue I see is if a waiter or waitress decides to pet the dog and later handles the food without washing his or her hands. But as far as I'm concern, that is not the customer's problem. That would be the restaurant's problem for not letting their employees know what they should or should not do. I even recently heard from someone that at St. Petersburg, they past an ordinance where outdoor restaurants cannot turn away customers with dogs. Like I said, I heard this from someone so I'm not sure how true it is. But with so many dogs dying from beind left in cars when it's 90-100 degrees, I understand why some cities would pass such an ordinance. And it was about 90 degrees when I went to Barnacles yesterday. Not even the awesome food was going to let me leave my dog in the car. So I decided to just leave without making a scene. As I was walking to my car in the parking lot, an employee chased me down and apologized. He said that there was something passed recently that said that customers can eat at outdoor restaurants with their dogs. He said that the manager was not aware of this. He told me that if I was still interested, I can go ahead and eat there. I probably may have reconsidered if the manager was the one who chased me down and apologized instead of someone else apologizing for him. So I just left and probably would never return...with or without my dog.    [13 Aug 2006 04:32:38]
