Excellent Restaurant For Mexican or Cuban cuisine in the Daytona Beach area, you cannot do better than Maria Bonita. From the minute you walk in the door the staff does their best to ensure that you have a quality dining experience.
The food is always fresh and consistently tastes wonderful. Maria Bonita makes everything homemade and believe me, it shows in the taste. I would recommend just about anything on the menu, but my favorites are the Steak Ranchero and the Enchiladas. Beware though; if you order a dish with Poblano sauce, make sure you are familiar with the taste. Poblano sauce has a very distinct taste and it might be smart to ask the staff if you could try a little before ordering a dish made with it.
As far as service and ambience go, Maria Bonita is exceptional in these areas as well. Even though the restaurant is a converted fast-food restaurant, it does not show on the inside or the outside. The owners did a great job of providing a festive atmosphere with the feel of Mexico. Additionally, all of the servers that I have encountered at the restaurant have been Mexican and are always helpful in answering menu questions and providing recommendations about both the Mexican and Cuban items.
As I stated earlier, you definitely cannot get better Mexican or Cuban food in the Daytona Beach area than at Maria Bonita. I make sure that I visit this restaurant on every trip that I make to Daytona Beach. The price is right, the quantities plentiful, and the taste is excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking to dine on Mexican or Cuban fare. [04 Feb 2003 11:23:45]

Si Mexicano Bueno I was invited to Maria Bonita's the first time by a friend. As with Chinese food, I am a little wary about where I eat ethnic food ... as sometimes I am not exactly sure what I am eating. We went for lunch and I was surprised with the soup of the day with my lunch special. I believe it was chicken tortilla and it was very good.
I decided to try it out a second time with a family member, again for lunch. This time I was served some kind of bean soup with my lunch meal. Again, very tasty. Since it was my family member's birthday I alerted the waiter who immediatly brought out a large sopapilla dessert. Crunchy fried tortillas with cinnamon, honey & ice cream. Wonderful!!
Third time - I brought my husband. He loves Mexican and I just knew he would be pleased. However this time we chose a busy friday night - service was not as prompt and when I received my usual order of shredded beef chimichangas I noticed they had forgotten my lettuce and tomato!! And it had been in the fryer a little too long. We were both disappointed with our meals that night, but I will probably return one day for lunch. [20 Apr 2006 16:57:52]
