What a joke!
I live in J-ville & drove down for the weekend to visit my parents with my five year old. It was also bike week.
First of all, our waitress was rude, didn't clear trash from the previous customers & the wall that out table was against was filthy with splattered food.
Secondly, we sat there for 50 minutes with no food & no communication from our "server" before we got so aggravated & decided to get up & leave.
So we walked up to the cashier (who was also the manager) & expressed our frustration. She blamed it on the kitchen & charged us for our drinks.
I left pretty pee'd off. We sat there patiently (with a starving 5 year old) for 50 minutes before we decided to leave & they CHARGED US FOR OUR DRINKS??? What the heck is that about?
It was the worst service I have ever experienced in my life... I can honestly say that & it was filthy.
I have been in the service industry for over 20 years & in management for almost as long & the correct response from the manager at "Steve's Famous Diner" should have been... I apologize... please let me pay for your drinks ($3) & please try us again. But NO, she blamed it on the kitchen & took our money.
On our way out I expressed my distaste for the diner as new customers were walking in & I kid you not...as we were driving away half of them left.
Keep in mind, it was bike week but if this award winning diner is so famous they should be used to such a crowd. I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHO IS GIVING OUT THESE AWARDS???
One more thing that I forgot to mention is... people that sat down approximately 10 minutes after us were getting their food & half way through their meal when we got up to leave. We think our "server" just forgot to put in our order.

BEWARE.... JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A FEW LOCALS & DINER STAFF THAT EACH VOTE 200 TIMES SO THAT "STEVE'S FAMOUS DINER" CAN EARN AN AWARD DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY WILL LIVE UP TO THEIR SO CALLED AWARD WINNING NAME!

DEAR STEVE: JUST KNOW THIS... IT WAS SUCH A BAD EXPERIENCE... THAT I WILL ENJOY SHARING IT WITH EVERYONE I KNOW (AND I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE & BUSINESS OWNERS THAT TRAVEL TO DAYTONA) OR MEET WHEN CONVERSATION ABOUT RESTAURANTS OR BIKE WEEK COME UP.
GOOD LUCK BECAUSE UNFORTUNATELY BAD NEWS & BAD EXPERIENCES TRAVEL MUCH FASTER THAN GOOD NEWS & GOOD EXPERIENCES.    [09 Mar 2008 11:46:58]
