Great View - Food Not So Great For a great view this is the place. Might be a better bet for cocktails not dining. Food mediocre at best. At 6 pm I was the only patron. [03 May 2001 14:20:35]

PLEASE DON'T EVER EAT HERE...BEWARE We took guests from Wales with us as a last evening out before they returned to Wales to top off their two week first vist to Florida (to Top of Daytona Restaurant). We had never been there...and told them it would be a surprise...well it WAS JUST THAT only in a really bad way!! The food was deplorable...the manager said he would not charge us for the tough pork loin roasts (2) and the tough chicken. The manager changed his mind when we went up to pay (we thought he would credit us)...and he argued in front of customers and charged us 18% automatic tip when we had already left a large tip in cash at the table. The manager was the most rude we have ever encountered. We were all sick at our stomachs that night including our guests...(they had eaten the food to not appear like they didn't like it). The manager didn't try to even say thank you, come back or sorry for the problems. When we were at our table we didn't even ask to see him or ask for a credit..he volunteered it when our server noticed my husband and I weren't eating our food. The manager acted rude and discourteous when we were checking out and he thought no one could hear. It simply ruined our whole evening...probably the last time my husband will see his relatives for many years. The view was nice. I only wish that I could warn as many people as possible to not be duped into thinking it is "fine dining" like we were. I am still devastated that an establishment like that can continue to be allowed to run a dining place and be rude to customers because they know there will be more customers that just keep on coming because of the location. The manager said he took off the charge for the chicken and one pork loin because we hadn't eaten ours and my sister-in-law ate part of hers. My husband's sister had part of hers only to be polite. We had to stop by Burger King on the way home to get burgers for our guests so that they would at least not be hungry their last night here. I am very discouraged and disappointed that that kind of business is allowed to even be "in business" here in the Daytona area. I see that another customer wrote a similar review as mine so it must be common practice to serve nasty food. My advice...save yourself the disappoinment and go to Steve's Famous Diner...they aim to please and do a good job. My husband is a retired Xerox executive and I am a teacher in Florida. Amazing View, Amazing Place I visited this restaurant just last week, and at first, through the other reviews I had read, I was quite scared. My fear, though, was soon eased even though the restaurant was a victim of a hurricane last year and had just reopened, it was in incredible shape. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was treated like a queen. In addition to the beautiful view overlooking the city and the ocean, I was waited on hand and foot, and even though the waiter appeared within minutes of our being seated, he apologized profusely for keeping us waiting. The meal itself was superb as well. I ate the Veal Marsala, and my boyfriend had the duck, and neither one of us had much room for dessert due to the fact that we didn't want to waste such an incredible meal, but we ordered it anyway. The Strawberry Napoleon that followed was exquisite. Needless to say, both my boyfriend and I were quite pleased with the entire dining experience there, and if we lived in the area, we would dine there as often as possible. [31 Mar 2005 18:47:22]

We can't wait to go back!!! We spent our 27th anniversary at the Top of Daytona and enjoyed the amazing atmosphere and food. Although we did not have a reservation, we were quickly seated by the window and admired the magnificent view on the Halifax River. We ate off the Early Bird menu - meat dumplings and the pork loin were excellent.
We’ll definitely come back during our next vacation in Daytona. [11 Feb 2007 09:42:33]

poor service I have been on vacation in daytona for 2 weeks and have dined at many high end restaurants while here but this experience was very dissapointing. We had 4 adults an 2 children (6 and 9 years old). since it was 7:30 we ordered the kids meals to be made right away so they would be happy but it took 80 minutes for our meals to arrive. the kids meals were last, about 5 minutes after the adults. of course we kept hearing that the meals were coming soon but for me not fast enough. the music was too loud to talk to each other. in the end what irritated me the most was that the tip was automatically put on the bill 18% of the total. that was the only way they would get a tip out of me. maybe a bad night for them but I will not be back in my life time. the food, when it came, was alright but not worth the wait.
