The best sandwich shop I've ever seen Been going there twenty years. The owners work there nearly every day, and everything is done fresh. They even grind their own meat for the burgers and steak sandwiches. Soups are good too! [03 Dec 2003 17:19:53]

Must be type casting--name works! Love this place. Best gyros outside of Tarpon Springs. Great soups. If I don't go there at least twice a month, I go into gyros withdrawal! [29 Dec 2003 13:11:00]

BEST EVER! Greatest sandwich shop that ever lived! Try the steak egg and cheese! Or the meatball sub. All are delicious! [10 Mar 2005 22:11:49]

Best Cheese Steak I've Ever Had! Their steak meat is so tender it will just fall apart in your mouth. I've had dreams about eating their cheese steaks. I like to just order and eat outside on the picknic table out back. Don't forget to get the cheese fries and a cherry coke! [11 Apr 2006 11:13:47]

CONFIRMED: BEST EVER Over the last 25 years, the owners of Belly Buster's have contributed at least 25 pounds to my weight. It could be 30 pounds. The owners are still on premises on weekdays, and they make sure everything is done precisely to standard each and every day. (They're closed on Sundays, now, so get in on Saturday for sure.) When a place stays open for 25 years, and never buys a dime's worth of advertising, EVER, they're doing something right. Figure to arrive by 11:30AM, or wait until after 1:00PM, because they're jammed then. Yes, it's rough and tumble inside decor-wise, and it shows wear and tear after two and a half decades, but I wouldn't have it any other way. In fact, I think it's better this way.
[Note to editor: smoking no longer permitted, because that's Florida law now.] [16 Apr 2006 22:35:50]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Gyros, soups, bacon burger sub, meatloaf (!) sub [try it Jerry's way], best steak fries anywhere, ever.

Absolutely The Best Sandwich Ever I was first introduced to Belly Busters Steak and Cheese in the early 80's while attending Stetson University. I haven't had one in over 10 years as I've since moved away from Central Florida. However, I still carry my frequency card as I someday intend to redeem it for perhaps one of the best sandwiches in the universe! [03 Oct 2006 15:34:46]

Belly Buster's is the Bomb! I had attended Stetson University from 1983 thru 1987, and probably ate at Belly Buster's at least 3 times a week my entire college career. When I go back to Deland I eat there every day I am in town for lunch and dinner and I still can't get enough. The best gyros anywhere and the best sub by far is the double cheeseburger sub, all the way, hold the sweet pickles, add hot peps, and an order of friend planks, extra crispy. God, now I am thinking about driving up there and getting one! Belly Busters, still the best sub shop I have been to in 42 years. [28 Feb 2007 18:46:45]

Even with new owners their food still rocks. I was so worried this year when my favorite sandwich shop changed owners. Alas, no worries. The food is just as good as ever. They kept the same recipes and now you can even get awsome cuban pressed sandwiches there. They have new counter tops and a self-serve soda stand now. I think all of DeLand breathed a sigh of relief when we found the food to still be the best around and kudos to the new owners for knowing what to upgrade and what to leave just perfectly the same. Best Little Sandwich Shop On The Planet I always eat too much. But it is soooo worth it. The food is fantastic. My husband is from the area, and when we moved here in 1998 he took me there for my first visit. Well, I am hooked. We eat there at least once or twice a week. When friends and family visit us from up north, we get take out from there. They always ask for it when they come back to visit. The decor is run down, but I think it is perfect.
