A Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ enjoyed only a brief period of glory before a silent movie theater closed in 1932; it now plays at the Roaring 20s Pizza and Pipes.

The Paramount Revisted! I grew up going to the Paramount Music Palace in Indianapolis, Indiana. When I walked through the doors at Roaring 20's, it was like taking a step back through time. Everything looked exactly the same as it did at the Paramount with a few minor exceptions. It's a bit smaller than the Paramount, which is a shame because they could have easily packed it out if they had added a second floor like they at the Paramount Music Palace, and it would have helped acoustically too - but oh well. The food is great, but hardly anybody I know goes there for the food - it's totally the organ that mesmerizes everyone from young to old the minute it rises from the floor and starts playing all of our favorite tunes. Even Bill Vlasak and Dwight Thomas are still playing it! I'm so glad the organ (affectionately named "Black Beauty") didn't end up going to Germany. [06 May 2008 00:00:26]
