Long John's Fries are the Weak Spot in the Menu. The fries at Long John Silvers need to be re-invented. The fries are too small meaning skinny, they vary between being dry or greasy, also the portion size is small. For a good fish and chip dish the fries should be thick like steak fries with alot of moist potato flavor. The fish is a good second to other chains but should I say maybe Long John's is a good third choice behind others. [27 Jan 2003 20:33:10]

Long John Silvers Seafood As an employee at Long John Silvers I must say that our seafood is high quality. Maybe the fries are somewhat weak but that all depends on what location one goes to and the cleanliness of the batter and the grease it is cooked in.The portion size of the fries are as stated, 4 oz. of fries are placed on the tray or in the box as advertised. The reason our fries are like they are is b/c LJS is a chain of seafood restaraunts...getting decent fries at a fast food place is like pulling teeth, to get well made fries you might as well choose a high dollar sit in and dine restaraunt. Bottom line, all fries are just about the same wherever you go.Our fish and fries are as fresh as they come, we don't make it until you order it that way your food is nice and hot and fresh. Our service tops the competition in which we care about who we serve, when you ring that bell it makes us feel 100 times better to know that we did well. To Greasy Menue Author Yes we put a lot of think breading on our fish and chicken but that's what makes it taste great and that's what keeps people coming back. Yes we use a lot of grease, but what fast places don't? Last but not least our food may not be very healthy but its healthier than the majority. Everything we cook is cooked in vegetable oil, not canola oil like a lot of hamburger places. Compare health specs from a hamburger patty to one of our battered dipped pieces of fish. Then you should not eat at Long Johns, and enjoy you toufu, and soybeans :)
I live in Wilmington, and only get to eat at LJS when I travel to the western part of the state. LJS rocks, and has the best fast food seafood anywhere, and at a good price too. [17 Feb 2004 12:23:15]

Love Long Johns Love that fish at LJS's! Even the fries are the greatest. Am going there again today for lunch. I am a nurse doing in home care and I always take my patients to LJS's for lunch and we all love it. Can't speak for the other towns where LJS is but ours in Escondido is great.
