A Flawed Diamond in the Deep Rough I am from South Florida, and I have (apparently) high standards when it comes to Latin Food. Emiliano's is the latest in a line of several Gainesville restaurants that fails to meet my expectations for quality Pan-Latin cuisine. The meal did have its bright spots: the tapas were first-rate, as well as the black beans and the salad, but the meat was bland and the rice tasted par-boiled. For dessert, I was shocked to find that on a slow night they were out of flan. The waiter was a little inept, but he was very nice and hospitable. It's better than pretty much every other Latin place in town, but it doesn't hold a candle to even the cheapest places in South Florida. [28 Mar 2005 00:10:49]

Wonderful Dinner! This restaurant has ambiance that's hard to find elsewhere in Gainesville. Great place to take a date. For dinner, my guest and I had a bottle of Spanish wine (they have a really good selection) and ordered tapas in lieu of entrees. Highly recommend! [09 Dec 2005 22:30:17]
