Friendly and authentic...and delicious This is one of my favorite restaurants, and it has been an institution among knowledgable diners for many years. I first tried Tim's about 25 years ago, and the same excellent food has been served ever since. I miss the hormok pla, but the hormok seafood is probably even better. Another favorite is curried chicken with green peppers and potatoes, which is served in a hearty gravy with rice. There are many curry dishes to choose from, and many vegetarian meals. Among the appetizers I always enjoy the shiu mai and the vegetable samosas. The Thai iced tea is delicious with or without milk. And you should not pass up the homemade mango ice cream. The service is very courteous and personable without being too intrusive. The staff is quiet, warm and friendly, and The food is always served promptly and correctly. The ambience is very peaceful, and I think it is charming in its frank simplicity and plainess. The owner, Faye, is very cheerful and intelligent. She will greet you with a warm smile and she will remember you when you return for more. The prices are extremely reasonable. Bring your own beer or wine; there is a liquor store across the street. Yummy and quiet Great food. Wonderful Phad Thai and Panang Curry. The Mango Icecream is excellent as is the mango sticky rice. The meat salad (I know it sounds weird, but take my word) was also good. The owner is a tad annoying, but all the servers are very nice and helpful when trying to pick out an entree. A bit pricey for the college student, but you've gotta try it. (It's in the shopping center next to Ward's Grocery) [03 Dec 2002 17:43:14]

Royal Pad Thai The best Royal Pad Thai I have found after trying Thai restaurants in Gainesville, Washington, D.C., and Tampa/St.Pete. [27 Feb 2004 14:43:54]

not that great I thought the food was average in comparison to other Thai restaurants in Gainesville. The worst thing about Tim's Thai though is the wait time. My friend and I dined there on a Friday and waited over three hours for our food. I would not eat there again. [15 Apr 2006 14:14:18]

Never want to try again I went there tonight with seven friends. This is the second time I've been there. The first experience was a horrible one cause we waited for 2 hours and got nothing. We were hungry to death. Finally, we left there without eating any food but drinking lots of water. Tonight, it's the same long wait. The food was "so so" compared to other Thai restaurants. Not worth the wait. The server is also awful. She said we need to share entrees so that the chef would cook faster. Really a weired reason to ask guests do so. I would never never go there again.
