Unreasonably popular
Maybe it's the Nascar races, maybe it's the "award-winning" wings the place advertises that draws so many in. As I've indulged in neither one. I don't know, but I can't believe it would be the sandwiches.

I stopped in for a takeout lunch one afternoon with a friend. I ordered the egg salad sandwich, she the veggie. With only about three or four other customers in the place, how long could that take? Plenty of time, it turns out. It took about a half hour to get our meals, and they certainly weren't worth the wait.

The egg salad was serviceable, but awkwardly heaped upon a dry, stale white hoagie roll. The accompanying lettuce was slimy and beginning to brown. My friend had the same awkwardness with her sandwich: same stale bread and generally unsatisfied with the flavor, quantity, and quality of the veggies.    [29 Jul 2004 10:29:28]
