Grammy's is great My wife, son and I had breakfast there one morning, not knowing where else to go in Inverness. Great Food. Biscuits that taste like biscuits, not something that comes out of the freezer at Winn Dixie, great home fries done to order (with onions, if you like) and omelets to die for. Oh, great coffee, too. DELICIOUS, and inexpensive ! My boyfriend and I stopped at Grammy's for lunch on our way back to Orlando after snorkeling with manatees through Birds Under Water in Chrystal Lake, while on vacation from Wisconsin. Very homey , clean, simple friendly atmosphere, booths, tables, and diner bar seating, seats about 80 total. We were one of 3 tables in the restaurant at the time, and ended up chatting with the waitress, cook and another customer who stops every time he travels through from Texas.
We shared the catfish fillet dinner (d. fried or grilled), fried green tomato appetizer, and a side of potato pancakes which the menu didn't mention cane with a creamy sausage gravy, but it was very good ! The bread was fresh and homemade. They were out of the homemade punch, unfortunately because we were told it was really good. The catfish wasn't earthy or fishy tasting, nothing was spicy hot, but they have hot sauce, if you like. We had a very moist chocolate cake that was surprisingly cooked all the way through, considering how tall it was. Good, but pretty average. It came recommended by the guy from Texas. They also had pecan pie. Everything was very good and portions were generous. Wish we had someplace like this closer to home! [12 Apr 2009 15:19:23]
