Change of Ownership
I'm not sure when the Chart House changed ownership, but a year ago on a visit to Jacksonville, the food and service were very good. Two nights ago, however, the reverse was true. We had to send two out of five meals back. The scallops were like rubber on one, and the grilled swordfish smelled and tasted really bad on the other. Everyone else had some type of smothered sause on their fish, which can "mask" old fish, so I can't be sure about the quality of those dishes.

It's a shame...the Chart House used to be very good and it has an excellant location on the riverfront.
Also, they've messed with the Lava cake recipe too. It's not the same.

Great Evening of Dining
A very recent visit to the Chart House made me wish I lived closer so that I could frequent it once a week. The beef medallions were tender and the sauace superb. Others at my table raved over the coconut battered shrimp and the prime rib! What a pleasure to go in hungry and come out satisfied!

Not the same
My family and I dined at the Chart House a couple of weeks ago. We had not been there in a couple of years. We looked forward to our visit. We were tremendously disappointed. The food was not what we had experienced in the past (much better shrimp at Outback and much less expensive). The real disappointment came when we had just started our salads and our food came. We did not get to enjoy our salads and furthermore we paid for them!!! We were shocked to see that they had not offered to remove the price of the salads from our bill. And.. we did go right to the salad bar immediately after placing our orders. So... if you go, ask to have your main food come AFTER you've finished the salad!!! And, my husband ordered coffee after his meal and the coffee was even on the bill!!! We thought they would at least throw in the coffee!! We later called back and spoke to a manager who assured us that he would compensate us in some way and we would see something in the mail. That's been 2 weeks and NOTHING has come in the mail. I recently called back and was told to call another day - there was no manager there!!! Next time we're in Jax we'll find another place to eat. Save your $$$$$$$$ people. Great Dinner
I visited the Chart House with my daughter and we had a wonderful meal. The wait staff was great, the prime rib melted in my mouth as did the lobster. Their salad bar is excellent. We oredered the lava cake before dinner and it had to have been the best dessert that I have ever had. The sugar buzz kept us going for hours.    [02 Oct 2004 17:06:21]
