no so happy in orlando We just returned from Orlando (4/27/07), while there we decided to try Giordano's (on 4/20/07 approx 630p)after seeing all the advertisements, but how I wish we had not bothered. We were greeted & seated immediately (IN THE BAR SECTION), and ordered a stuffed crust pizza to share. Our waiter was very good but the pizza took much longer than I would like. It's advertised as a stuffed pizza. Its more like a thick pizza-nothing stuffed about it-- an over baked hard crust pie with an overpowering taste of strong tomato sauce.
Now here was our problem, after being seated my wife and I kept wondering why we were seated in the bar section (in a corner) when everyone else was seated in the main dining section. While watching 12 other parties come in (all seated in the main dining area), the hostess would greet the guests, ask how many in their party and then they would be seated. We asked to speak to the manager after our meal about this practice. His explanation for this disturbing situation was that "the waiter of the bar area needed to get his share of customers" and the area we were in was not considered "THE BAR", even though on his seating chart, that area is listed as "BAR" and it looked like the typical restaurant bar. His additional thought or lack thereof, was that "every 8th customer was seated in this AREA" not so called "THE BAR". When we told him about how many customers came in he tried to say we "were mistaken about that count". Just prior to leaving, we pointed out to him that additional customers came and NONE WERE ESCORTED TO THE "BAR AREA"!! We found this very offensive considering we had 2 young children (which is not appropriate for children) and were the only patrons of color in the establishment. His closing remark was that we "could've asked to be seated in another area". My reply was that when you go to a restaurant with your family, it was common knowledge to automatically be sat in the formal dining area.
I guess I will not frequent that establishment again, and I hope other Giordano's Restaurants have better hospitality
