Simple, Wholesome, Delicious From flipflops to coats and ties, you'll see both while dining at the Beacon. Simple place with wholesome food and the friendliest staff in the business. A must do for any visitor to New Smyrna. Great and quick breakfast before fishing, but also recommend lunch and/or supper. [30 Oct 2003 22:14:35]

Best secret around Daytona Stumbled across the Beacon by accident one hungry afternoon and now drive two hours south from North Florida just to visit every few months.
Simple little Southern restaraunt by the beach with great food, very affordable prices, and friendly staff. I wish I could bring it home with me! [24 Jun 2004 23:08:27]

Customer is always right? My wife and I have eaten at the Beacon Restaurant on Flagler Ave many times over the years and always enjoyed the friendly service and consistent food. On our recent visit to the restaurant my wife ordered the greek omlet for breakfast. After tasting the feta cheese in the omlet- something she has enjoyed for years- she noted it was very bad. She brought this to the attention of the waitress, a lady who has been there for years, and she took it away. Once the bill came the omlet was still on the tab and my wife asked if she could take it off. She said the owner was not working and that she could not do that. I then asked her who was in charge and she said that no one was. I told her that we were not going to pay for it and she said there was nothing she could do. We told her that we had been coming here for years and that we even bring our friends here so there must be something that she could do. She ended up taking two dollars of the bill saying that was because we had eaten the biscuit and some of the grits. We did not leave a tip and will not be going back. [26 Sep 2006 21:25:40]
