A good, serviceable Indian eatery. Food and service are consistent, and of above average quality. Nothing spectacular but then again, we've never had any sort of problem. As it's the only Indian place in town, we've been there a couple of dozen times with the only complaint being their house wine is overpriced.
2007 update: still as good as in 2000! [30 Oct 2000 02:37:23]

Amrit is Great You should try the chicken curry and the chicken tandoori. I had them cater to my party. Perfect service [15 Jan 2006 18:33:08]

Best I have found since leaving Indianapolis Their lentil soup is the best. They have the best Indian food I have tasted since the India Palace in Indianaplos, IN. I make it a point to go out of my way to go there for their food!! [10 Jun 2006 21:54:19]

my first Indian food I ate here not knowing what to expect. We were completely in the dark about what to order so just took a stab. Everything tasted and smelled wonderful. Since our first visit we have been back several times. I have recomended this place to anyone who asks me about Indian food. I found out many people drive from Gainesville to eat Amrit Palace. I guess I am spoiled for anywhere else. It is a little slow, so take friends. [13 Nov 2006 03:21:07]

Better than New York I just moved here from NY and Amrit is tastier than any of the Empire State Indian restaurants I frequented. [20 May 2007 22:20:28]

Service needs lots of improvement I've visited Amrit Palace on several occasions, the last time on 6/12/07. The food was quite good and fresh, but the service is terrible. The owners wife basically threw the receipt and pen at me when i went to pay, training is definitely needed in the customer service area. [12 Jun 2007 15:02:51]

Best Indian in 1 hour Radius of Gainesville The person who said people drive from Gainesville to go here wasn't kidding: I'm one of them. I can't believe a cool college town doesn't have a single decent authentic Indian Restaurant, but we don't. The one's we have are overpriced for less than mediocre food. It's worth the 45 min drive to Ocala (1.5 hours roundtrip). I can't stand the atmosphere, but the food makes it worth it. [30 Jul 2007 21:29:05]

Delicious food We've eaten there many times and the food has always been excellent. The owners are very nice people. Waiters/waitresses come and go. Nothing you can do about that.
We will probably eat there again this week. [13 Nov 2007 12:44:39]
