If you are into an ambiance created by pouring enamel onto plywood and soft drinks which come in two sizes, regular and Bubba, then you deserve to eat here.

Generally patterned after a diner, AF's makes no pretensions about anything. Even the veggies are right out of the 10 gallon can.

But, to be fair, the chopped steak, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy was both generous and very good. That, and a Bubba size lemonade ran me only $7.08. Even with the $2 tip I got change back from the tenner!

Looking around the place all portions were large with a fair mix of bland and covered in gravy. Dishes such as Chicken Fried Steak, Liver and Onions and $9, 16 ounce "sirloin" steaks appear to be the mainstay of the menu.

The clientele is similar; sitting with your back to a wall is recommended. But being called Darlin' and Hun by the geriatric waitress made up for it all. Nonetheless, the place was packed for dinner.

From the menu it looks like their popularity is due to their breakfasts. I will probably give it a try some time when my cholesterol count is especially low.    [31 Aug 2001 21:40:21]

Appearance and presentation
The presentation of the interior and exterior is much to be desired. Much work is needed on repairing and renovating the establishment. It also would not hurt to modernize the landscaping.    [09 Jan 2006 20:39:02]

rude new staff
I will not recommend this facility to my worst enemy. The so called new staff is rude and the food's horrible
