Dining Experience at Lone Star located on 200A in Ocala, Florida On Sunday, June 25,2005 my husband and I celebrated our 40th Anniversary by having dinner at Lone Star. We ordered drinks, appetizers and Steak/Lobster, NY Strip dinners. Our tab was about $65 and we both were very unhappy with our meals. The steaks were dry and the lobster was slime. What should have been a happy celebration was spoiled by terrible food and because neither of us wanted to upset the other by refusing the food, we ate what we could and have been sick since. Steak shouldn't taste like liver and lobster shouldn't taste like squid. We are very surprised because we have eaten at your establishment numerous times and were always pleased with the food and the service, but not this time. [26 Jun 2006 10:34:27]

Stay Away from LoneStar on 200 in Ocala Yuck! And may I say again, Yuck! My boyfriend and I ate there last night (Nov 15, 2006) around 8 p.m. He's from NY and down on business and I drove up from Orlando where I live. Too hungry to decide, we pulled in because of the reputation. Never again!
Our first clue should have been that they sat us two booths away from the front door.... with an entire nearly empty restaurant at our disposal. Open until 10, our easy meal should have been extra special. It wasn't.
We had an order of steak nachos-- there were 10 tortilla chips, each with a fingernail size of meat and 1/2 tsp. of cheese and beans, topped with a slice of jalepeno, side with sour cream and salsa. Chips were NOT crisp or hot. Disappointing for 7.99 appetizers.
Since I was expecting a hearty portion to start, I went light on my meal for a soup and salad--- the "famous" lettuce wedge was room temp and dash of loose dressing and one, yes, one, dab of blue cheese. Brown edges only added to the lack of appeal! My steak soup was so greasy that I had to send it back. It was hot and full of steak, but not that flavorful.
My boyfriend got the half rack of ribs and steak fries. It looked like the snack basket at Chili's! Tiny and 12.99.
The bread was fresh, hot and tasty and the service friendly, if sporadic. All in all, kinda put a damper on a romantic evening.
STAY AWAY! [16 Nov 2006 16:17:09]
