Very disappointed
We went for lunch on Saturday and were very unhappy not only with the service which was awful, but also with the portion size. The front person was to the point of being snotty and the waitress was not much better. $2.49 for dip served in a condiment size dish, that is 95% creamed cheese and 4 packages of crackers is ridiculous and then we rec'd our entrees, we all had ordered the trio which along with the french fries would have fit nicely on a salad plate, in other words I feel 3 small shrimp, 3 scallops and two tablespoons of clams does not justify the price. Also the iced tea was horrible. We told the waitress who was totally indifferent. We have no plans to return again, since we had driven 1 hour just to eat there. We can get twice as much food that taste as good for the same money and have people who actually act glad for the business at Cedar River.    [04 Jun 2003 21:46:12]

LUNCH
MY FRIEND FROM THE WEST COAST AND I HAD LUNCH AT THE OCALA LOCATION. IT WAS A FIRST FOR BOTH OF US. IT WAS GREAT. I HAD HEARD GOOD REPORTS BUT NEVER TRIED IT. Great
I came to vacation in Florida from Germany. We go to Ocala for Silver Springs. While we were there we ate at Sams St Johns Seafood. It was great. Everybody there was nice. The food was good. I even met the owner of the restaurant. Very nice man. Would go again.    [29 Mar 2004 00:46:20]

Great food at a great price
Every time I go to Ocala I make sure to visit Sam's St. John's at least once. Fantastic seafood at unbelievable prices. The best value for seafood I know.    [07 Apr 2006 17:20:23]

Better than these reviews say!
These reviews don't do the place justice - hot food hot, cold food cold? Come on! The atmosphere was appropriately nautical and the staff was very down-home and friendly. Had quite a laugh with one of the hostesses about Sam (of Sam's St. John's fame). The food was a cut above Long John Silver's (which I love, so that is a compliment)on a par with Shell's but not quite as good as Red Lobster. It has the feel of a seafood joint which is charming. The Fried Clams were first rate - cooked to perfection and the Deviled Crab was devily delicious. I would absolutely eat here again.    [07 Aug 2006 22:38:08]
