Asian Fusion It's good to see a new, upscale restaurant come to Ocala. Unfortunately, Sky doesn't live up to its promise nor expectations. Hopefully after a few more weeks experience they will have their act better together and will be a shining star in the community.
But from the folks who brought you Dee Dee's Dog House, we were a bit disappointed. No major problems, just a slightly above average ambiance (as they try to emulate the best of Las Vegas but come across as a little too much randomness) and not yet polished service ("how are you guys tonight?")
Food was generally good but trying to provide a fusion of culinary arts from 5 disparate Asian countries, in the decidedly blue collar midsection of Florida, just didn't work. The result was an unsophisticated menu which missed a lot of what could be offered and instead seemed to have various Asian sauces and treatments on the usual suspects (pork, beef, shrimp).
Tasty, yes, but be sure you check first as to the spiciness of the dishes if searing hot simply ruins food for you (no mention on the menu or did the waiter ask our preferences ... and the result was way over the top).
The notable bright star was the awesome dessert menu which included Chocolate Torte with macadamia nut ice cream and raspberry coulis, and Gingerbread Sandwich with Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, apricots and caramel sauce. Alas, portions were about a third too small.....
We will definitely go back mainly to see how they do their Kung Pao chicken ... they really have potential. [20 Sep 2007 16:05:00]

When I made a reservation for Sky, I was expecting a truly wonderful dining experience. I've read that this restaurant was rated at five stars, but the quality of both the food and service was maybe worthy of three stars. Perhaps it's because gratuity is already included for parties of 8 or more, but the waiter was not attentive at all - drinks were not refilled and we were not asked if the food was to our liking.
I'm truly not sure what kind of atmosphere was intended for Sky, but while the decor is nice, the music is way too loud. Because everyone in the restaurant needs to amplify the level of his or her voice, the atmosphere is about as pleasing as an elementary school cafeteria.
Needless to say, I do not believe any of the guests at the table that night will frequent Sky. [20 Dec 2007 16:17:50]

Absolutely fabulous! Walk into the club like atmosphere and just soak up the energy. The tables are terrific... large, round, wood tables with a frosted glass lazy susan embedded into the middle of it. The chairs are large and comfortably padded, inviting you to sit for hours. There were 5 of us; we ordered 3 appetizers, 4 entrees and three sides, everything perfectly scrumptious. Everyone's favorite was the Mongolian beef, but the pad Thai noodles and the garlic eggplant were a very close second and third. And the crispy calamari salad was the guys' favorite. There was more than enough food, we actually brought some home. The service was fantastic, even though our server was obviously busier than she would like at one point, she never was anything less than attentive to us. I can't wait to go back! I think it's wonderful I visit the sky at least twice a week and have yet to receive bad service. The food is wonderful and the specials change daily. The presentation is wonderful as well. They have changed the music and now it is more relaxing, and softer. They were going more for a Vegas restaurant theme, but Ocala wasn't ready for that. I would recommend this to anyone that has a little adventure in them. This is no Outback or Chili’s, so go in expecting a great new experience. [02 Jun 2008 09:40:59]

Not going back While staying at the hotel I visited the restaurant once for take out. I was told it would be a 20 minute prep time, but I still had to wait 15 minutes after arriving before getting my food. I paid $29 dollars and while the food did taste good, I was left wondering where my money went... because the food looked sparse.
The second day I tried to order lunch. After calling them three times, I finally got someone to answer the phone at noon. She didn't know how to answer my questions about the menu, and offered to 'go get someone'. After waiting 15 minutes, I hung up and asked the front desk about it. They attempted to call several times and failed to reach anyone. I will never give them business again after that poor experience. [30 Oct 2009 12:28:33]
