Not like to Uno's I remember in Chicago It's been a long, long time since I lived in Chicago. Pizzeria Uno's and Due's were two favorite, famous restaurants native to the city of the Big Shoulders. Uno's "upside down" pizza (with the cheese placed directly on thick crust to bake it crisp and your choice of toppings put on top of the cheese) was the big innovation when Uno's opened in the 1940's. You'll still find that famous Chicago style pizza today now that the original two restaurants have long since been franchised.
Most of the other menu items (including drinks served in Mason jars) that Uno's was famous for are there as well.
This particular location, like most on International Drive, is busy when conventions are in town and during tourist season, slower the rest of the time. One of the few full service restaurants on I Drive open for lunch.
Watch the tab. On one occasion, I ordered a half and half - two different sets of toppings on one pizza - and was charged for two pizzas. The waitress did not understand why I did not want to pay $26 for a pizza. Fortunately the manager did and promptly corrected the bill. [31 Jul 2004 23:49:47]
