Best Bagels on the Beach
My husband and I lived in Pensacola for 5 years but had to move away. We now travel 600 miles one way just to get to taste the scrumptious brunch bagel and super cheddar bacon bagel sandwich. We have never had a bad meal at Bagelheads. Glad to have the new place on the beach.    [25 Feb 2004 14:39:01]

Bagelheads on Nine Mile Rd is the Best! Cary, Terry and everyone else are super. They take good care of everyone the Super Cheddar bagels are to die for there is nothing that compares. We were every weekend regulars and have now left the Pensacola area, We miss the bagels, the coffee and the gang. There is nothing that compares to Bagelheads. Do you want to expand, Cary ??? Central, VA needs you !!!!! Will you ship?? Better than Kraft-VEGGIE CREAM CHEESE    [20 Jun 2004 14:29:34]

Every visit gets better
On a recent visit (family reunion)to Pensacola Beach I stopped in at the Gregory Street location for a cup of "joe" and maybe a bagel, I am very picky about the bagels that I eat or serve.....what a great surprise to find great, hot, regular coffee, very drinkable lattes, and top notch bagels. The Bagelzones are unique and very tasty. I ended up taking home two dozen bagels, 6 bagelzones, and lots of cream cheese (flavored and plain)...well the proof is in the reaction...the next day the group at the beach dispatched me back to BH's to pick-up more (of course 3 others joined me so they could eat there and not have to fight for their share)...this time we took back several muffins as well as a bigger order than the 1st. All in all, in a weeks time we enjoyed 6 visits, (driving from the beach each time) 5 for brunch/breakfast fixin's and once for lunch (very good time had by all). Not only is the food great but the atmosphere makes for a fun relaxed time and that is what counts when it comes to a great experience sharing a meal with friends.
Now I find myself back for a couple of weeks for business and try to start my day with a visit to Bagelheads. Nothing for nothing...but
I have been in (and continue to be in) the restaurant/food service business for over 30 year....holding seminars (on a national basis) for customer service and menu development as well as managing catered events for groups exceeding 10,000 ....and in my opinion...Bagelheads is one of the best bagel/coffee shops I have visited in years.    [24 Jul 2004 12:41:40]

Bagel Addiction
I go there 2 times a day because I go to school on University and I’m totally addicted to the bagel, food items, coffee, and atmosphere. Please refrain from the comments regarding the service. I’ve never had a problem with the service. It’s a laid back atmosphere not a 5 star restaurant. Go to Emeril’s if you want that kind of service.    [02 Oct 2004 17:15:55]

A coffee and bagel joint to (tie) 'dye' for...
Spending 15 years in Tampa, I had no lack of bagel and coffee places. My first reaction upon moving to Pensacola was one of complete shock and horror...no good coffee/bagel shop existed, so it seemed. I drove by the Bagelheads Garden St. location at least a dozen times before I had the nerve to go in and check the place out. Once I stopped in I was glad I had.

In case you want to use a commercial bagel shop to compare Bagelheads with, I would use Einstein Bros. - multiple varieties of coffee in a self-service motif, bagels, sandwiches, soup and salad items galore, and so on. Add to this a certain degree of understated kitsch - evidenced by tie-dyed, t-shirted staff and brightly colored signage offsetting the white wooden and colored tile decor.

The place always seems to be jumping in varying degrees, especially on the weekend - my running team loves to go there after our Saturday morning workout to replenish our diminished carbohydrate and caffeine stores. Service can be a little on the slow side, but I think it's an unintended consequence of the food quality.

And the food is quality; the 'heads management believes that nothing should be served to its customers that wouldn't be served to their own family. My wife loves their Eggel, a bagel, egg, and cheese sandwich that can have a variety of toppings and condiments. I stuck to the initial 'just give me a sausage and provolone on a salt bagel' rut, until she made me realize just how many cool additions I could add (spicy mustard, for example). Talk about opening up a whole new world of delicious!

Their new location at Pensacola Beach is a welcome piece of warmth and cozy in the midst of the tourist madness. Our running team celebrated their holiday party there last weekend, reminding me just how good their pizza is during the evening. Trust me when I say Bagelheads/Pizzaheads is more than just a morning kind of place.

If you cannot find something you like in Bagelheads...or Pizzaheads you probably just aren't hungry.    [14 Dec 2004 12:17:43]

Recommended Dishes: 'Eggel,' 'BrunchZone' (egg, cheese, bacon, potato calzone - don't forget the salsa!); the cole slaw is like nothing you ever have seen and will also knock your socks off!

never again
You would have to actually pay me to step foot in this establishment.

I tried this place three times and no more. Twice when I was here I was like only one of a few people there and it still took over 20 minutes to get a bagel. And there were like a hundred people behind the counter milling about and acting like they were busy. Maybe they should stop talking to each other all the time and actually serve food.

Ridiculous and unacceptable. What I did eventually get was good. But not good enough to make up for the lousy service to ever return nor recommend to anyone.    [11 Feb 2008 14:23:55]
