Charlie's Eatery, Pensacola, FL. Made from scratch, family-style buffet for $8.00 is unheard of in 2007, except at Charlie's Eatery in Pensacola. There’s nothing like Charlie’s fried chicken, spaghetti, vegetables, and six salads everyday, then add the homemade breads, cakes and who can forget that delicious iced tea. I have not had ice tea that good since my childhood. Charlie's features change daily, from corned beef and cabbage Wednesdays to fried mullet/tilapia Fridays.
Sit inside or on the covered garden patio surrounded by the beautiful, tropical green lush Florida native plants. Charlie has been in business 18 years, starting out delivering his delicious food to downtown businesses. Expect to see him at the restaurant from start to finish each day, and, of course, hanging out in the back washing dishes between checking you out.
Charlie's slap dab in the middle of a residential section in an ole' Country Store style building. I had an overwhelming desire to hug Charlie and the two ladies that take care of the patron's - cause I felt like I had just eaten at Grandma's, and I was leaving with that good comfortable feeling. Every dish is an example of what "homemade" means and the atmosphere tranports you back to the good ole' days. You will miss out if you don't go to Charlie's Eatery.
Enjoy and take some tea with you. [24 Feb 2007 23:47:02]

Please Do Not Eat Here I stopped here before proceeding to the Naval Academy Museum. The food was poorly prepared and tasted like it sat under that heat lamp for hours. The price of 9 dollars per person for this shoddy buffet is unacceptable especially when you add two 9 year olds that eat only one chicken leg and roll each. The building felt like a rundown shack hippies would reside in the forest. Raw octopus would be a better choice if you are trying to eat a good meal. I'm just going to say never eat here. Never a bad meal at Charlie's If your expecting a doorman or fancy tableware this isn't the place, but if your looking for some good down-home cooking and don't mine eating on paper plates this is the place. If this wasn't a good place to eat you wouldn't have cars overflowing from the parking lot into the neighboring streets. I've never had a bad meal here and love their homemade salads, muffins, chicken, and all their daily main dishes. [05 May 2008 12:21:15]

Down Right Good! I love to eat at Charlie's! The food and atmosphere is just like an ole family reunion under a pavilion on Sunday when I was a kid! I have always had a great lunch here with very good service!
$9 gets all you can eat and a big glass of delicious tea. Can't beat that! [26 Nov 2008 16:13:32]

Don't expect too much Not a whole lot to talk about here. Food quality is like that you might find in an untrained cooks home. Plain grub you might say. Not awful but believe me I'm not going to write home about it either. [30 Dec 2008 20:35:17]

My work pals took me here laughing behind my back because they know I'm a bit of a restaurant snob...like don't take me anywhere with plastic tablecloths. I admit when I first walked in I thought it had to be a joke. Not only are the tablecloths plastic but so are the plates! The napkins are rolls of paper towels on each table and if you like your iced tea with lemon, there's a big bottle of Real Lemon on your table...help yourself. The floors are uneven and a bit dusty. The walls are an odd mix of brick and tin and wood and you might just find a cob web or two. BUT!!!! The food is wonderful! It's not fancy, but like others have said it's real home cooked food. The best fried chicken and on Fridays the best fried fish. Great potato salad too! This displaced Yankee was reminded of the old adage "don't judge a book by it's cover." If you do, you'll be missing out! [19 Jun 2009 12:26:48]
