Touristy but Locals Still GO Many tourists find out about the restaurant... Locals know it is a great place to eat and also know when to go and when to say hell no... The food is great and atmosphere nice, I'll agree the service could be a little more prompt and polite. [26 May 2006 06:25:31]

Best Catfish in Florida! Let's begin by stating that the fryers oil is changed every few hours. Let me repeat by saying that the oil is changed every few hours ... and that is why this fish tastes so amazing. Not heavily breaded. Not artificially flavored with a bunch of spices ... just great tasting seafood (fried or broiled).
Did I mention the million item salad bar? Sure that's an exaggeration but you'll never be able to consume all your dinner if you partake of the array of fine accompaniments offered (and there are a lot). I'd recommend you stick with the cheese grits, baked beans, cole slaw, corn bread and keep the other items as slim as possible or they will have to carry you out in a wheelbarrow.
By the way, each dish is served with a fresh, hot, homemade cinnamon roll which is fantastic. You'll also get a BIG sweet hush puppy which is very tasty as well.
Your server will likely be an older lady who identifies herself as "Cousin Gerty" or some other southern sounding name. The service is typically attentive, quick, thorough, and you will be ashamed not to desire leaving a big tip to such a sweet woman as your Dear Cousin Whattsasomething.
Now you might be tempted to partake in the 'All You Can Eat' section but as a regular, let me simply say ... WAIT until you've seen the plate. Your waitress (I mean cousin) will allow you to simply change your mind, add the additional charge of $3 to $5 to upgrade and 'poof' it's done. I'm a hearty eater and seldom if ever need the AYCE portions. Anyway, as I mentioned, you have the opportunity to go back to the million item salad bar as much as you like (and you will like).
The place has a down-home southern charm and is located along the waterfront. A great view and a wonderful time to enjoy the wind and water if there is a wait. This is a popular spot and as such, often has a wait up to an hour. Do not be tempted to drive down the road and settle for less than Aunt Catfish can whip up because this place is just darned good!
(Note to parents ... a nice playground and slide is available with comfortable seating. They cater to all age groups.)
A Sunday Brunch is available and a great spot for 'after church.'
I highly recommend this place. I live in Orlando and think nothing of driving 40 minutes and paying for the gas to enjoy what is a guaranteed GREAT meal.
While reservations are NOT taken, you may call and get preferred seating upon arrival.
Too bad I don't get commissions on this one, I'd be rich as Cousin Jed Clampett. [12 Jun 2006 00:51:35]
