Schooners is the best

Great Lunch at Schooners
The "Catch of the Day" was flounder. It was wonderful, cooked to perfection. The veggies were almost as good as the flounder. Man, what a terrific lunch. The service was a little slow, but the food was so good I didn't mind.    [28 Jun 2004 20:21:01]

Disappointed Overall
A friend and I were very disappointed. I have never been to any restaurant that ever made me want to complain afterwards. But - The smell on entering almost made us leave (wish we had left), and then we were put @ a huge booth in bar area and that was another reason to leave, and we asked for a smaller table and decided to give it a try.
In the back area, we felt better about atmosphere. My friend ordered 12 shrimp and all was fine, except for her side dish of cauliflower - she said it wasn't good, and I ordered the lunch clam strips and that was a horrible sight. When my plate arrived, it looked as if someone had just finished their meal instead of getting started with it. In fact, my 5 year old grandchild would have been disappointed with the amount of clam strips that was on the plate. My friend said, that looks smaller than a childs plate. I had about 6 or 7 very small clams strips and the potato dish was not done and it was cold. The only good thing was the coleslaw and one hushpuppy on my plate.
The waitress was just fine. She didn't have a lot to say, but that was fine with us. The service was slow, but that doesn't bother me if food is going to be good, which this wasn't the case at all! One thing for sure, My friend and I will not be going back to give our money for an undesireable meal. I guess you all must think - 'Most of these folks are from somewhere far off and they don't know any better and we can feed them anything and they will be happy,' but that isn't always the case. I'm not a big eater, but I would at least like a meal worthy of my money.    [01 Oct 2006 04:31:31]
