Not Ready For Prime Time Julian's is a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful building, conveniently located in downtown St. Petersburg. Its service is very spotty and the wait staff is unable to resolve problems it causes. If you're looking for fine steak and willing to pay these prices, drive the extra 18 miles into Tampa and go to Bern's. It's unfortunate that St. Petersburg doesn't have a fine steak restaurant worth recommending, but that's the sad truth. I brought a group of out-of-town visitors to Julian's and was actually embarassed. Our food was undercooked or overcooked and the head waiter was incapable of making anything better. I wrote a three page letter to the restaurant after our visit -- we had spent close to $2000 and I thought they needed to know what happened -- and the restaurant never even gave me the courtesy of a response through a phone call or a return letter. Obviously they don't care. And obviously, if you're going to spend this much money on dinner, you shouldn't take the risk. [09 May 2005 13:24:09]
