Good food They bring out really good honey butter crescent rolls to begin with, but I was told that one has as much calories as a Big Mac, so be forewarned if you're watching calories. Otherwise, the food is really good, service is good, casual. The steak was excellent! [21 Feb 2005 14:42:16]

Nutritional Analysis I can't recommend Hops because they refuse to provide nutritional analysis of their food, so many with restricted diets cannot eat there. It is standard practice today, so what is HOPS HIDING? [08 Jan 2007 18:22:30]

i love hops! they have great burgers, steak, chicken & beer (which is very cheap compared to other places since they brew it right there) and i always, always, always get their southern fried chicken salad with grilled chicken instead. i love that it comes with avocado and they do not skimp on it. like most places who offer avocado with things, you get maybe three slices, four if the cook is feeling generous. at hops, you get half of an avocado. if you ask for extra avocado you have an entire avocado on your salad when they bring it out to you. i love it. i always get that. & their ranch is really, really, really good and always served on the side with everything. and their rolls are very good! they probably are not the healthiest things for you, however i can assure you that one roll does not have as many calories as a big mac. its a crescent roll with a honey sauce drizzle over it (which is probably 1tbsp to 2tbsp for a large plate full). they (at the very most) are between 100-200 calories. big macs are baked in grease, covered with fatty cheese, and fatty, creamy sauce, and slopped on to a bun covered in grease. crescents are BAKED and are usually about 130-150 calories for TWO rolls.
you can figure out (relatively) the calorie amount that is in most things served at hops, so although they don't have a calorie sheet, its also not rocket science. a serving size (2tbsp) of most ranch is between 90-130 calories. the same with blue cheese. a 1/4 cup of cheese is around 120 calories, most large hamburger buns are around 200 calories, a single tablespoon of oil is 120 calories & anything fried is bound to soak up at least 4tbsp of that if not more, so on and so forth. most of the things offered in their dishes you order are also most likely things you eat, use, and cook at home that you buy from the grocery store that come with a nutrition label. use that knowledge and apply it to what you eat with a grain of salt.
if you are on a restricted diet, they have things like salmon, broccoli, rice, salads (and like i mentioned earlier, all dressings are served on the side you don't even need to ask), shrimp, grilled chicken, etc. if you have to have a calorie sheet to tell you you can't eat something your diet will fail no matter what because you cant decide what is healthy unless you have a piece of paper telling you its unhealthy for you. and portion control is key. if you really want a roll, split it with someone. only eat have your salad or sandwich and get the rest to go. or if you really want a burger or a sandwich, ask for no bun to be used and get a salad instead of fries. also ask for your veggies steamed, no oil or butter. you can make healthy choices at any place you eat, you just have to ask for things (no butter, steamed veggies, etc) and not be influenced by what others are eating or the really yummy looking picture of a brownie sundae. or heck, order a sundae, eat a bite or two and share the rest. it just takes a little discipline on your part.
