Best place on the Gulf for fresh fish! Best place on the Gulf coast for fresh fish and seafood dishes. Small two-dining room restaurant with a casual atmosphere. The cuisine here is anything but casual! I am partial to the crab and eggplant appetizer, but all of the fish preparations are outstanding! [18 Mar 2002 22:23:26]

We stumbled on a Great place... From the outside, the small wooden A-frame looks like you may be served catfish with homefries....OH NO!!! We were pleasantly surprised by a beautiful atmosphere and a terrific menu. We had the crab gespacho, followed with hot homemade rolls, and the main dishes scallops with risoto and blue fin tuna. Finished dinner with a moton chocolate souffle. [29 Jun 2003 14:18:57]

Best Emerald Coast Dining
This restaurant is excellent. Don't miss an opportunity to visit the Lake Place.
We liked everything including the salad with pears and stilton, the duck gumbo (which included sausage made by the chef/owner Jim Richard) and the entrees with fresh fish (snapper and grouper). Nice wine selection and delicious desserts!
Relaxing atmosphere is a welcome escape from resort restaurants that are too big or too loud. [04 May 2004 08:40:10]

A little slice of heaven
I've been to the Lake Place twice now and both times were incredible. Don't let the simple exterior fool you. The trigger fish is amazing. And the service is very good.
A wonderful dining experience! [20 Oct 2004 00:22:53]

little jewel on the emerald coast
You would never know about it unless a local told you because it is not the large "run them in, run them out" kind of restaurant that is the norm. Great food, good service and excellent wine list. The bread must be homemade because it is delicious.
We met the owner-chef, I think his name is Jim, who is very friendly. [30 Jul 2005 19:46:42]
