Recently I decided to try out the Alpine Steak House as I have lived in Sarasota for 19 yrs. and have never been. I ordered the patty melt with American cheese and chose the steak fries. When I received my food, I saw white cheese so I assumed it was Swiss cheese but the waitress said it was white American cheese (what happened to good old yellow American cheese?) and the steak fries...I was very disappointed in, as they were simply a leftover baked potato cut up into 8 pieces and then deep-fried. I expected to get steak fries like the ones you get at Two Jay's Deli! As this was my first impression, I will not be going back to this restaurant. [04 Dec 2005 13:05:02]

Excellent! It's a usual stop for me at lunch. I ordered a reuben sandwich that was delicious with steakfries. Stacked with tender corn beef brisket. It is the BEST Reuben sandwich I've had since leaving N.Y.--also homemade soup Beef Barley ---most hearty and homemade. A different homemade soup was featured each time--I've tried them all! A definite two thumbs up!! Went back with family for steak dinner at night several times- BEST steak in town by far at most reasonable price [11 Jan 2006 21:36:30]

My husband and I went for the first time and we will be going back for sure!
I had a filet mignon wrapped in bacon that could be cut with a fork! It had such an amazing flavor. I have never had a steak cooked so perfect. My husband had the cowboy steak that was cooked equally as well. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! [05 Feb 2007 15:03:03]

Plan to eat here. Delicious steak. Tasty stuffed mushrooms. Salads are wonderful and fresh. Garlic bread needs to go; It was dry and tasteless, but the rest of the meal and service was perfect.
Nice Casual setting with a meat market and deli. [18 Aug 2007 19:43:10]

You will be recommending this place to your friends! I started eating at Alpine Steakhouse a couple years ago, and I have never been disappointed. Everything that I have is always cooked to perfection. Not only are they a steakhouse, but they are also a meat market. I now get all my meats there. I would venture to say that they have the Best Meats in Town! [25 Sep 2007 12:31:30]

First Time, Will Be Back Again Wow, what a great meal that we had , when we lookied at the menu, and say Oysters Rockefeller, and clams casino, we had to start our meal off with them, then we went to the roast duck, only to find a surprise that not only was it perfect, but also stuffed, my weenier schnitzel was to die for ! I only wish that we had room for dessert. [03 Mar 2008 20:28:53]

What a disappointment This restaurant did not pass my number one criterion: Would I go back? No. The Turducken was pretty good for a $12-$13 dish, but it cost $20 and all three in our party who ordered agreed that they wouldn’t order it again. But there were service problems too and it’s not air conditioned. Or at least the A/C wasn’t working on Memorial Day weekend. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, which was brought to the table, opened and served warm. Even as a child, I knew that was wrong. Then the bottle was placed in a container with a small block of ice that had no chance of cooling it and I had to ask for more ice to cool it down. The same waiter then mistakenly wrote down an additional entre when taking our order. My wife was ordering an appetizer of Beef Tips for our young daughter as an entre and he brought both an entre and the appetizer portion for our 6-year-old… then charged us for both. We ended up paying for his mistake. Also, there were no napkins or silverware at the table when we were seated and it stayed like that until our dinners were served and we had to ask for napkins and utensils. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend Alpine to potential diners. [03 Jun 2008 12:50:12]
