In My Estimation, Tallahassee's Premier Restaurant!
Each time I dine at Chez Pierre, my husband and I are more amazed by the professionalism, creativity and ambiance that this restaurant provides. It's hard to remember that this is Tallahassee and not New Orleans, Chicago, San Franciso or some other "food destination!"    [14 Jan 2005 01:43:24]

Poor Service, Food Okay.
I went to chez Pierre for a special occasion, which I notified them about when I made my reservation. They write announcements about birthdays, anniversaries, etc on the sidewalk leading to the restaurant, and they offer a special dessert. They did remember to write it, but they did not notify the waiter about it, or he forgot. The service was fair to poor - the waiter took his time coming to our table; when we needed something, he was nowhere to be found.
The food was not very good. Two of the items ordered were a steak and a rack of lamb. Neither were cooked as requested, they were seriously undercooked (very rare). We couldn't send them back, because the waiter did not come back to check on us.
For a restaurant this expensive, I would have expected better service, and more attention paid to the requests of the patrons. I am not going back.    [26 Nov 2005 22:47:12]

I love Chez Pierre!
Far and away my favorite restaurant in Tallahassee. The food, service and ambiance are always perfect. My beau and I have already made our reservations for Valentine's Day....it really is the most romantic restaurant in Tally.

One of the things that amazes me is that is so affordable! Try it - you won't be disappointed.    [27 Jan 2006 16:39:59]

Just OK
I ate at Chez Pierre several times. I like the place more than the food. The food is a 2 stars on a 5 scale. The waiters are amateurs from the ranking files of FSU.

I wished they had better food. I love French cuisine but Chez Pierre is far from a good example of it. I wish they had another chef.    [14 May 2006 13:51:39]

French only in name...and service (translation: poor service)
This is not really what I would call a fine French restaurant...it is fine for Tallahassee standards, but for anyone who likes real French food look elsewhere. Don't be fooled by the traditional architecture, this restaurant's food and service doesn't match the impressive building. Food is very salty and not prepared very well. Service is slow and it is obvious the wait staff have little to no training. Water glasses stay empty, hostess dresses like Britney Spears, and you have to wait a long time for mediocre food. Look elsewhere, this is certainly not the best French restaurant in town.    [01 Aug 2006 10:12:09]

Used to be Excellent- No Longer
We have been long time fans of Chez Pierre's but will not be returning. Living 1 1/2 hours away from Tallahassee we go there often to see friends and shop. Chez Pierre was always a treat until last week. Everything seemed the same until we were presented the menu for lunch. The creative, cutting edge food was gone. There were no luxurious ingredients to choose from, just cliche standard fare.

We ordered the Mussles appetizer and were not disappointed, very nice, very good, well done. We began to relax thinking that maybe the standared fare would be beautifully produced and tasty, we were wrong. I ordered dinner crepes and was disappointed with the dry chicken, cracked and granular bechemel and leftover, warmed over quality of the dish, awfull. Sharon ordEred the prosciutto and brie sandwich. She got just that, about 1 1/2 oz. of prosciutto and two slices of brie on bread. The cheese wasn't even melted, a minor ham and cheese improvement, really sorry.

This was an excellent restaurant at one time, you got more than you paid for in ingredients and creativity, no longer. I considered the food expensive for what it was, poor in quality and devoid of creativity. From sublime to rediculous.    [15 Oct 2006 10:31:58]

More flash, less substance...
Since we moved to Tallahassee in 2004, we have been big fans and frequent visitors of Chez Pierre. Yet in the past few months we have noticed that the food quality has dramatically decreased while the ambiance has changed (beautiful terrace and bar under the yellow awning) and the prices are still the same.

We had lunch at Chez Pierre yesterday and were extremely disappointed. We ordered the goose liver pate as appetizer, which they tried to serve us without bread. When we were just starting our hors d'oeuvre, they served us our main dishes, both of which came with fries--already cold upon arrival. The food quality was definitely not appropriate for its price and the service was very bad, even shameful, for such an establishment. It seems that Chez Pierre has invested a lot of money in its appearance and in doing so has dramatically lowered the quality of its food and service as well as the creativity of its menu.    [11 Feb 2007 13:44:14]

Rude servers and poor service
My daughter, her date and two other couples dined at Chez Pierre before attending their Senior Prom last night. I could go into specifics, but that would take up too much of this review. Basically, the service was very poor. The server almost completely ignored them. She didn't acknowledge them for the first 10 minutes they were there. One of the young men sent his steak back because it was very undercooked. When it was delivered back to their table, it was put down very rudely in front of the young man without a word. When the young man said "thanks," he got a "grunt" in return. Also, they were charged a 20% gratuity which is the amount added to the bill for parties of eight or more. They only had SIX, but they were still charged the outrageous 20% gratuity. Rather than cause a dispute, they just paid it. They had already had a dispute over gift cards they were using. They were told by their server that several of their gift cards had a zero balance, when in fact, these cards had never been used and each were worth $25.00. Overall, they reported that the food was pretty good, but the service was horrible and the servers were rude.

Give me a break. These were high school seniors celebrating one of the most memorable nights of their lives. They were dressed beautifully and were acting like very mature young adults. I think it's a shame that they were treated as if they were second class citizens.

Do the right thing. Either hire servers and hostesses who care about your customers or teach the existing ones some etiquette.    [29 Apr 2007 21:55:03]

Don't Let The Name Fool You!!
If you like duck maybe but don't come here for a steak. They do not know how to cook a steak or anything else.    [26 Feb 2008 10:59:47]
