Review of Garfield's Food: The food was well prepared and served hot. I ordered the house steak known as the Grand Sirloin. While grand maybe an overstatement, the steak was marinated and season and was an example of a good steak needing no sauce. For those who would like to add flavor, a full compliment of populaqr brand steak sauces wer available. It was served with a vegetable blend of broccoli and carrots. The vegetables were steamed and crisp. Also a choice of baked potato, french fries, or seasoned mash potatos came with the steak. I chose the french fries. There was nothing remarkable about the fries and they went well with ketchup.
Service: There was no wait for a table yet there were several diners eating. The hostess was very accommodating to find a table to my liking. The server arrived in a timely manner to take my drink order. Though she happily and pleasantly brought the things that I requested she was nonchalant and at times seemed unattentive.
Ambiance: The setting is your basic sports bar with televisions strategically placed to provide ample viewing of the "big game." The only unusual item I found was that the tables wer covered with newspaper type paper. The staff used crayons to mark this "table cloth" with information such as when I was seated and the name of my server. While it was a little uncomfortable to eat on a "newspaper" table cloth, it was good to be able to refer to it for my server's name.
Price: The price was about average for a midscale restaurant. Though one might say a little pricey for the size of the steak. [26 Jan 2004 02:09:34]
