EAT BEFORE YOU GO!
This could be one of those cool places to stop for a meal if it were not for the wait, and wait, and then wait some more. I find it hard to belive that a BBQ joint smokes their meat to order, but with the elasped time it takes to get your food. I'm pretty sure that must be what they are doing back there.
I like the food. Taste great, good smokey flavor, but dag gone the wait just kills all that. I think the problem is lack of adult supervision in the kitchen.
Just my two cents worth..oh yeah...the call ahead order that you called in thirty minutes prior..it won't be ready for pick up either.    [08 Jul 2003 02:19:41]

Barbeque
I read about this restaurant and drove from Ocala to find out for myself. I live in a community where we wait in line at reataurants. This place has some of the best barbeque I have ever eaten. It was worth the wait.    [08 Jul 2003 15:41:38]

Billy Jacks

BEST IN TOWN
Sure, ya' gonna wait; but where else where you gonna go to get the local flavor and of course all the local peanuts ya' want along with that delicious BBQ at reasonable prices. The portion sizes are large and try the burger for lunch, you won't finish it if ya' also get the onion rings or fries.

Billy Jacks, Yeeeeehaw!!
This restaurant is exactly what I was looking for. I and my 5 cousins drove down from Montbrook to escape the everyday alligator and quail that we eat and found Billy Jacks to be the perfect place....

GREAT FOOD BIG PORTIONS FAIR PRICE
I am a waitress at Billy Jacks and I just wanted to post to get some things straight, we have great food at reasonable prices for a hometown restaurant. Sure, sometimes you have to wait a while for a table, but that just means that people are actually eating there. Sure you might have to wait a little longer than you want to while at the table for your food, but we serve bread, finished with the loaf?, ask for more it's free. We try to provide quality food at a decent price.

We have everything from ribs (babybacks & pork ribs) to grouper (fried, grilled or blackened) or fried shrimp. On Tuesdays we have a fried chicken special from 11 till 3 (unless we run out, better get there early) its $4.95 3 pieces of chicken (a breast and a leg and a wing, plus mashed potatoes and gravy and another side of your choice.)Wednesdays we have a 10 piece wing special with french fries (or any side you prefer) for $4.95. Also we have burgers, fish sandwiches, bbq sandwiches (pork, beef, or turkey), club sandwich, salads (chicken ceaser, house salad, chef salad, grilled chicken house salad). We also have awesome steaks, we have sirloins (6, 8, 12 oz. which are usually very tender for being sirloins) plus a 12 oz. ribeye steak if you like the fat. Plus a lot more. Our ranch dressing is amazing, we make it ourselves.

Despite the looks of the place (which isn't our fault) food is prepared very cleanly and up to code. Ok well I hope you now understand despite the things you may or may not have heard it's a good place to eat, cheap and you get plenty of food. Thanks and hope to see you soon. Some damned fine BBQ in central Florida!
i first set eyes on this joint in 2004 and went in for some ribs.

Babybacks were good, so good that the next 9 times i went in i ordered them without even thinking twice.i just want to say its worth a 20-30 min wait for fine BBQ like this, so stop crying about waiting! Even the Tuesdays are great with the chicken special during lunch at a fair price. so show the wait staff some love and i am sure you will walk out with a story or a smile on your face; and you Canadians start tipping Damnit!    [21 Sep 2007 00:04:07]
