Stealing
I had an awful experience with the manager over refusing to accept a sandwich with stale bread. This happened Wednesday, September 5, 2002 under the management of [name removed]. [the manager] called the police because I wanted a fresh sandwich before I paid $9.95 for a stale one that I took one bite from. According to [the manager], his manner of servicing customers is supported by his General Manager, [name removed].
I rate the service, food, and prices as poor and ridiculous.    [05 Sep 2002 15:20:10]

Best Place we ate during the PGA in 2001
There are shooters of like 99 varieties and scrumptious crab legs, oysters, and shrimp. We had a blast. Blew close to a $100 including the souvenir dive T-shirt! Can't wait to visit again!    [12 Oct 2002 11:59:10]

Second to none!
Fantastic food, superior service, casual atmosphere, what more can be said. The best seafood dishes I have had since moving from Panama City Beach and having to leave the proximity of Captain Andersons! Highly recommended!    [16 Mar 2003 11:56:22]

Best kept secret in the ATL!
I had moved to Atlanta from Cincinnati and was told about Spondivits. I took my brother and a few friends there and we had a blast! The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. I would HIGHLY suggest going there for a REAL good time!    [15 May 2003 09:54:59]

One of the worst experiences in dining
On July 12th, friends invited me to join them at Spondivits on Virginia Ave. I ordered the 3/4 pound shrimp dinner for $21.95. I received 11 small shrimp and a side of bread. I voiced my concern to the waitress who said that usually 14 shrimp are served. However, even 14 shrimp would not have added up to 3/4 of a pound at that size. She went to get the manager who sat down beside my wife and said "You got what you ordered, what's the problem, what do you want three more shrimp." He just didn’t seem to quite understand. We were appalled and realized that they really weren’t interested in customer service or our patronage. I had him remove the food. I asked him to leave the table. Never to return again. By the way I tipped the valet who in turn parked my car and gave me my keys so that when I finished dinner he wouldn’t have to get my car.    [14 Jul 2003 16:30:26]

A place like this in Cumming, GA - No Way!
Went to what looked like a biker bar for dinner. Didn't know what to expect. Unbelievable. The service was good and the food was superb. Fresh ingredients, well prepared, good presentation. Been back several times and the nightly specials are excellent.

You need to try this place. Love the chowder. Good as I've tasted, and I have literally had chowders all over the world. Previous favorite was Spud's in Seattle. This is as good.

On the negative side, not a good place for kids (although some may consider this a plus). The bar is close to the dining and sometimes you get a drift of smoke. Not really too bad though.    [23 Jul 2003 10:15:15]

Don't do it!!!
I travel all over the country with my work and have never had poorer service from the waiter to the manager than at this establishment. Food was excellent but customer service does not exist.

I will never return.    [11 Aug 2003 10:11:35]

I have been to Spondivits in Cumming on three occasions, each one worse than the last. The first time the food was "OK", the service was less than stellar, but friendly. The second time the service was almost as awful at the food, everything was cold and old. We were told that was the way the bucket of crawfish was supposed to be. The third and last time, we had a guest in from FL who wanted to go there... The portions were extremely small, according to the phantom waitress, it was because they were running short. We had to get our own drinks from the bar, as I stated earlier we had a phantom as a server. Additionally, the food was a bit less than so so. To add insult to injury, a tip was added to the check (we were a party of three), without us being told. When I phoned the next day, I finally got a manager on the fourth call, who informed me that adding a tip the checks that "may be more than $50" is their standard procedure, due to the fact that the waitstaff is often under tipped, or not tipped at all. I will never, ever, never step foot in that filthy place again. Maybe they should take food service 101 from Burger King.    [25 Nov 2003 16:25:47]

Women still do pay...
While in spondivits in Cumming, we were being waited on by a yound girl. She brought our drinks and forgot us until the food came. (She didn't forget us, but I had the feeling that because we were women that we wouldn't tip as well as the men's table she was hanging at) Well when that food came, one of the items was wrong, so we finally got her back and told her that one of meals were wrong. She proceeded to tell us that, that is what we ordered and we said no we didn't and would she please make it right. She said that is what we ordered and we would just have to live with it. My shy friends would not let me pursue this, but I will never go back to the Cumming Spondivits. I will be checking out the East Point one in a couple of weeks. Let's hope that they have better service. The food was good but I feel for the price you pay that you should get a least a little respect from the waitresses and waiters.    [21 Apr 2004 11:57:56]
