save your money Was suggested by the manager of the 1842 Inn to try Marco's. Later found out that the owner of the inn and the restaurant are the same. Marco's is overpriced for the quality of food and more so the lack of qualified staffing. [16 Nov 2005 11:33:20]

Marco is on the way to greatness Recently went to Marco because my favorite restaurant was closed. My wife and I found the food to be excellent, the service attentive and the ambience very pleasant. The price is no higher than any other fine restaurant. [16 Jul 2006 19:35:15]

The other reviewer is so wrong about Marco Fabulous ambiance, warm atmosphere. Tall ceilings, brick walls.
Everyone who worked there was very friendly. The service was very good and our food choices were all great. We had a scallop appetizer that was excellent. A fish cooked in a shell of rock salt was a specialty of the house. The presentation was interesting and the taste was fabulous. [23 Jan 2007 21:42:17]

As close to Italy as you'll get We just moved here from Italy about three months ago and Marco's is the closest thing you will get. They offer a gastronomico menu that pairs a different wine with no less than four courses. I wanted to see just how good they were, so I tried it. The food was absolutely spectacular, the wine paired perfectly and the service was exceptional. My wife ordered three courses off the menu a la carte and they were just as superb. Giordano introduced himself, spoke Italian with us and made us feel at "home". Also, I have not been anywhere in the area where I can get some of the wines, foods, or liquors they have to offer (try the Brunello, Montecipiano, and for dessert, the Limoncello, iced preferably).
I read many of the reviews and unfortunately do not agree with the negative ones. In Italy and in most larger, more sophisticated cities (sorry Maconites), a dinner experience will usually last 3 or more hours, alowing you to enjoy the evening and not feel rushed. Food takes its time to the table and it is not uncommon for there to be a half hour between entrees. If you're not used to this, then you should stay with the chain restaurants. On the other hand, if you want a fine dining experience that is as close to the real thing as you can get, then go to Marco's. [13 Feb 2007 16:38:25]
