Prime Rib to die for WELL worth the trip from anywhere on Oahu (and not just for the prime rib!). Don't be fooled by the relaxed informal atmosphere of this place. Our seafood and prime rib dinners were outstanding and the service was equally friendly. [18 Jul 2004 14:46:18]

Haliewa Joes This restaurant came highly recommended but, I was disappointed with my experience. The appetizer of calamari was excellent and the drinks were excellent. My tuna dinner portion was extremely small. I questioned the waiter if there may have been an oversight and he stated no. I left hungry after spending $75.00. [25 Jul 2004 05:34:38]

My Wedding Dinner Experience We just left Lanikai Beach where we had been married just minutes ago. Before leaving California I had looked high and low, traveled many miles looking for the perfect Hawaiian wedding dress and grooms shirt. Imagine our surprise when entering the restaurant we see the staff wearing our wedding clothes. It was so much fun, weird, but fun.
The service was perfect. Food was good. But we think it was the ambiance that made it so amazing.
We would recommend this place to anyone. [17 Oct 2004 01:21:53]

Not What We Expected We had heard such great things... Big disappointment!
Heads up - do not plan on dinner at Hileiwa Joe's when there's entertainment. Service is non-existent, and staff allows more and more customers in the bar area, spilling over into the dining room, so the area becomes impossibly loud, with people crowding around your table. Several tables of customers were offended. How rude!
Probably will not go back. [11 Mar 2006 03:04:57]

North Shore Dining Temple of Surfing A restaurant one step above those seafood shacks that litter the world's waterfronts. Haleiwa Joe's is special because, look at the walls, and you will find vintage surfing gear hung up as decoration. I wouldn't be surprised if Duke Paoa Kahanamoku himself had used one of those antique wooden boards. The Poke Salad is well made and delicious, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It reminds me why I had come to visit Hawaii in the first place. [09 May 2006 15:23:28]

Disappointed On a good note, our waiter was very polite. However, our appetizer (soup) wasn't brought to us until our dinner was being served. Our food was bland. We were not impressed and would never recommend this place to anyone. I wish someone would have steered us clear of it. We couldn't pick out one good thing about the food. [29 Jun 2006 00:29:18]
