Worth a Search! The 1 Plus 1 Cafe is adjacent to Hilo Bay Cafe in the Waiakea Center. The new restaurant is casual and offers a broad range of Asian dishes. The Vietnamese dishes are six varieties of Pho and summer rolls. A range of Chinese dishes is also offered. [13 Sep 2004 20:44:40]

CAUTION ADVISED Aloha, This place used to be my favorite for roast duck in Hilo....until today. I ordered my usual Roast Duck Mein which was served up hot and savory. A few spoonfuls of broth were very satisfying as usual. Then I picked up a piece of the duck and found a fly in the soup. I called a server over to point out the problem. Her response was an apology and surprise because it was so early in the day and that the duck had just been cut up. (around 11:30 am on a Sunday) Does that mean that this is more likely to happen later in the day???? I received apologies from the server and never from the cook, ordered a different dish as a replacement and was disappointed by the chow fun (over-seasoned). I later went to pay my tab and was told that there would be no charge. I had been watching the roast duck display and chopping block area to see if anyone came out of the kitchen to scrub it down. No one had. I mentioned it to the server and she responded that it had been cleaned after the duck was cut. If scraping the wooden block counts as sanitizing, forget it. I am very disappointed with the establishment after this last visit. Hence my lowest ratings in the fields requested in this review. [06 May 2007 22:18:26]
