A Pacific Rim Taste Treat
A Pacific Cafe offers diners a wide array of Pacific Rim taste treats. Located in pleasant, spacious and somewhat noisy surroundings on Kauai's eastern shore in Kapaa, its menu features many interesting creations which change frequently. There is a wide choice of appetizers and salads plus freshest seafood, and great steak, chicken and lamb dishes. Good wine list and friendly well trained service. Generous dessert menu. Recipient of many awards. One of Kauai's premiere dining experiences. Part of Chef Jean-Marie Josselin's fleet of restaurants scattered through the Hawaiian island    [22 Jan 2000 19:54:40]

Good Food; Disinterested Service
The food here was good; fresh ingredients, interesting concepts, perfectly cooked fish. The service however left something to be desired. We waited 1 hour from our reservation time. There were no apologies; no complimentary dish or drink. In addition, there were at least a dozen other parties that also waited a long time for reserved tables. Really inexcusable.    [15 Oct 2001 22:05:00]

Great food!!!!
I was at the Pacific Cafe this past summer in Kapaa. The food was delicious!! This has to be one of my favorite restaurants. If there has to be a drawback, it may be the loud atmosphere. However, the food definitely makes up for the somewhat loud open style room. I would highly recommend a reservation, but waiting for a table is still worth the wait. I have also been to the Chef's 808 restaurant in Vegas which was a great experience, altough, you can't beat an awesome dinner in Kauai!!    [05 Mar 2003 10:08:14]

Bad Choice
My wife and I went to the Pacific Cafe in January and it was the worst food and service I ever had in Hawaii. We both ordered Ono which for both of us was severely undercooked. The waiter was nowhere to be seen and when he was seen, he didn't stop when we called him. We had to get another waiter to ask to re-cook our meals. When our waiter finally came over, it was to only give us the bill and he charged us for 3 drinks that he never brought. It wasn't just us, the couple beside us couldn't get service either. The food, even when it came back cooked, was very bland. The restaurant is in a strip mall and the atmosphere resembled that of a strip mall. What a huge waste of money...    [03 Apr 2003 15:25:51]

Just OK
Been to Pacific Cafe's on other islands and remembered the food was good. The one in Kapaa seemed unremarkable except the Kiluea Pork dumplings. Our duck salad was tasty but just had little tiny squares of duck. The scallop salad was blandly dressed. The lobster shu-my had no noticeable taste of lobster and had big chunks of raw onion or radish, very unpleasant. Considering the rep, the food just ok. My husband, a chef, an I are picky eaters though! Service was fine on the Friday night we went and didn't really notice that it was noisy. Nice enough ambiance.    [26 Oct 2003 20:39:05]

Don't give up!
I saw these posts were quite old but I had my wedding reception at a Pacific Cafe and they did a lovely job. I'm from Chicago and many guests commented that it was the best food they ever had for a wedding. We love the Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi as well as their pork chops and the pork dumplings. Would go back in a minute if I could.    [05 May 2006 22:04:28]
