Rude service After 15 minutes of non-service sitting at a table at Oki Diner, I requested service only to be barked at by an old white lady who said others were ahead of me, while she served coffee to a white gentleman who arrived AFTER we did. We left after she wanted to argue about who came first and deserved service. DON'T GO TO OKI'S - SERVICE STINKS. [09 Mar 2004 00:20:48]

Oki's Diner Well, there's this one guy there that is the owner's son and let's just say he's missing some screws in his head...he's pretty rude and doesn't want to work there (when we asked for water, he replied "fine, MAKE me suffer!"). One of the dishes my family had was a salad, and was NOT drained at all! [12 Aug 2004 01:51:40]

incredible food-service sucks Like everyone else there we had to wait forever to get served; the place is extremely popular, but understaffed. Once it was our turn the service upgraded to "okay". But the food was excellent and made the wait worthwhile. Don't miss the banana pancakes with strawberry syrup! [04 Nov 2004 10:52:14]

The price you pay for the best island food... Oki Diner may not have a staff oozing with glee but the food more than makes of for it. Get the combo that has teri beef and kalua pork, side of rice and chow mein noodles. EXCELLENT. Make sure you ask for some cornbread too. We always get it to go since we stay at a condo close by. If you're staying at the Marriott, do the same. Otherwise, grin and bear it for the best and cheapest local food around! [06 Aug 2005 23:56:54]

great food While the service sucked, the food was quite good. It's a locals' favorite and they just don't have enough waitstaff; and the quirky old lady (apparent the owner) won't change. Ya gotta try the linguisa, and banana pancakes with strawberry syrup! [11 Sep 2005 13:03:47]

Oki is always on the top of my list Always eat there 3 or more times...breakfast/lunch/dinner...true Hawaiian "diner". Saimin, Loco Moco's, Hawaiian plate..cant beat it.
Have fun...smile, you might get better service. [12 Oct 2006 15:59:34]

Dollar for Dollar the Best priced food! Me and my family have eaten at Oki Diner for more than 10 yrs. Whenever we come to Kauai this where we go. From the breakfast pancakes to the MahiMahi to the Tuna sandwich and the pumpkin crunch pie and the cornbread and the chips and salsa. Can't beat it. Barbara the owner I know makes everything fresh herself. The downside she has had a problem keeping good wait staff. Be patient it is worth the wait. [23 May 2007 00:37:22]
