Amongst Victorian buildings, you'll find the Skean Block, named for Elmer Skean, the one-time owner of the buildings. Inside, the high-ceilinged, tidy restaurant sports comfortable, cherry-colored wood furnishings, huge storefront windows, and, in places, a belle-epoque opulence with velvet-cushioned chairs in the hall and colorful prints of once-upon-a-time Paris on its walls.

With the meat choices outweighing seafood and pasta selections, the menu draws on rural Iowa's steakhouse heritage, but goes much, much further.

best for Southeast Iowa

Well worth the drive
The Chef did a wonderful job with our meal, the service was a delightful change from the norm - our server was able to recommend foods and wines that will compliment one another.    [05 Dec 2001 12:26:16]
