We sampled the lunch fare at this pleasant hotel restaurant and were pleased with our meals and the courteous service. Though the dining room decor was somewhat dated, it was nevertheless a sunny and cheerful atmosphere with an 80's retro charm. With a varied and unusual menu, this restaurant is well suited to most any occasion. Though a discerning palate will detect the use of dried pasta in the Shrimp Pesto Linguine, the dish is a success, nonetheless. The dessert menu includes a nicely presented Chocolate Lava Cake but mine was overdone and did not feature the characteristic liquid center.    [09 Aug 2005 15:35:09]

I often visit Ames, Iowa, and stay in the Gateway Hotel. I have not ate lunch or dinner here, but normally breakfast. Like the hotel itself, the atmosphere and service are nice. However, the food quality was mediocre-nothing special. If you want a really good meal, I highly suggest you take a trip to Olde Main Brewing Company on 316 Main Street. Great place, No crowds
I love this place. I ask my husband to take me here for any special occasion. I love the brie and the steaks are great. Don't forget to try the wedge salad. Yum. If you want a nice resturant with no wait and good food, Try Audubons!    [04 Aug 2006 18:37:27]
