Great Place
I am not a big fan of mexican resturants....but this is an exception!!! La Fuente has awsome food and the service was excellent!! I would recommend La Fuente to anyone in Ames or passing thru. I drive 20miles to eat there!!!!    [15 Mar 2006 10:42:35]

Iowa-style Mexican
I lived over 20 years in California's Sacramento Valley and am a HUGE fan of Mexican food. To me, this is Iowa food with a Mexican influence. In all fairness, I do appreciate that this place IS immensely popular with Iowa natives. But I think it is because it is toned down for Iowa tastes or for people who don't like spicy food. I strongly prefer Cazadors on West Lincoln way (their salsa rocks!). Marshalltown has authentic Mexican, too--even fish tacos. And if you say 'ewwww' to fish tacos....head to la Fuente.    [23 Jul 2006 18:06:18]
